We want to buy acrylic templates and tokens from FFG... don't we?

By dewbie420, in X-Wing

Would it be possible to make an acrylic token with the design on both sides? I'm guessing they would be more expensive, from maybe a tooling standpoint .. can someone shed a light on this please?

I have some 3rd party tokens, some FFG focus and today some evade tokens .. I do enjoy them over cardboard ..

I think the bomb acrylic tokens could have been better, but still nice..

I would buy ffg acrylics, also glad i can earn some too..

How about a damage deck with a different design on the back as a prize..

It would require a bit more time and effort to do the acrylics on both sides, but it's worth it. I went and did all my tokens double sided and it makes them a lot better. Will need to do the templates soon too.

What I would like to see as prize support, or on the regular cards really, is making use of the card backs. Except for the damage deck, there is no reason card backs have to be identical. Having some biographical data on a pilot on the card back or information about the ship or a particular squadron for the generics would ROCK.

Just make the **** things already.

The prize kits are free and include little extra stuff that nobody but a turny winner really cares about. The fake tokens out there are NOT FFG Tokens... which is why I have never got any.

The thing is FFG has said more than once that they are keeping the tokens for prizes.

I see FREE Tokens and the other cute special stuff as being nice enough for any winner.

I would love to be able to buy acrylics straight from FFG. If only because I would expect them to be cheaper than ~$1 per token, which is what 3rd party ones go for now.

Well, one good reason could be if there is more players out there willing to buy FFG acrylics then there is tournament players opposed to it.

That only matters if FFG can make enough of them and sell them at a price that makes them a suitable profit. Part of that profit would be designing something to replace the current OP rewards.

Also it's really less that the tournament players are against it I think, and more that FFG doesn't want to do it.

Uh... the prize kits aren't free. FFG sells them to the stores. There's a cost for those acrylic prizes...

The winners do not pay for their prizes.

I've had to pay to enter every tourney I've ever played in. Are you sure they don't pay for their prizes?

Not directly, but every store I've played at has an entry fee that you have to pay. Ideally they get enough money that way to cover the cost of the kit.

So no, those tokens aren't really free.

Then you have a great store that is willing to shoulder the cost of the kits. My store doesn't mind too much to take a bit of a loss on the kits (namely the Store Championship ones), but we do have to pay for them, whether it is league sign up or tournament.

Don't most serious players already have acrylic templates

All the more reason for FFG to put out a full set for $20...

They still work for them though (play time), 4-12+ hours depending on scale of the tournament. And for some people they look at their time = money. So you have that as well.

I want the acryl tokens, I want them badly!... but I want to EARN them...

Talking about money and prizes... I would like to have a chance to win my money back and get some sort of cool prize like something from the OP kit box and if I place in high rank maybe win even more money back (in the form of store giftcard). My FLGS even awards pro painted expansion packs for 1st place, which is very nice. But...

Some shops need to spread those kits pretty thin and there's not much left at the end of the season and players sometimes play with no chance of winning official FFG gear. I mostly spend money to play and not get any prize, if more than 7 people enter.

I will still pay to play a tournament for any chance to win ANY ACRYLICS because I seem to totally destroy my cardboard over a short period of time.

Me? I've only placed twice winning evade tokens and then a dice bag plus another set of evade tokens. And with league night and the tournament at Dragonflight36 , I now have 3 new Recon Specialists. But I want sturdy templates sooner and without going broke... THEN I'll brobot and double deci my way to the cool AA cards, which IMO is the coolest prize for players that play best.

Not everybody can physically go to one of these little day long adventures to maybe have fun and maybe win a handful of cool rare stuff!

I earned the $$$ to buy a set of REAL FFG TOKENS... and dammit this Tee-Hee STAW SPECIAL STUFF SUCKS!

Whats next... Special FORCE Dice?!

Put out a complete set of tokens for $20/$30-bucks... already FFG!

What constitutes a "complete set" of tokens though? I mean, there's a bunch of tokens that only come with specific ships and whatnot.

I would think they can do a classic and brand new set, then once a it is needed make little faction sets. So if they put them out by years end say... they would release five packs. The core sets would be like $30 tops, and the faction set would be like $20.

So it has been written... LET IT BE DONE!

...done yet?!
