Pilot abilities?

By Kal Roosh, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Sorry about this noobish question but I'm new to X-wing

When can you use pilot abilities?

Every ability says when it can be used.

And do they count as a playing a action or could you use a action and your ability?

If they start with the header "Action:", you have to spend an action to use them. Otherwise they are not actions. A pilot ability may allow you to perform a free action, but that's another story.

Example: Luke Skywalker has ability [when defending you may change one of your focus results to a evade result]

He can also use the focus action

Can I use these together basically changing two focus to two evades?

That ability triggers when defending. Every time he is the target of an attack, he can use his ability. That may be multiple times per game round. Or not at all.

He has the focus action in his action bar. He can perform that action. Then he receives one focus token. That's all the action does. Spending a token is not an action.

The evade token changes all eye results to evade results. If you want to change two results, his ability is not needed.

Ah thanx, I miss read the rule that focus action changes ALLl the focus dice to evades. I thought it just did one

The evade token changes all eye results to evade results. If you want to change two results, his ability is not needed.

You meant to say Focus Token. An Evade token is just useful for cancelling one attack die result.

Yeh that's what I meant

I can't wait to see the OP's face when he/she discovers Tycho with Push The Limit.

Just read Tycho and push the limit lol this was my face ---> :o
