Anyone ever try this?

By SynysterDreamer, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So sitting here, playing SWTOR, and got the HK-51 companion.

Doing a little research, finding a few interesting things, and thinking of making an HK unit for my next game I play in.

Want people opinion on what stats he should have.

My idea is:

Brawn: 2

Agility:4

Intellect: 3

Cunning: 1

Willpower: 1

Persence: 1

that with spending starting exp.

As long as you're not planning to carry heavy weapons, that should work! Otherwise I might suggest swapping Brawn and Intellect.

What Career and starting specialization are you thinking of?

thinking bounty hunter assassin, but really don't have a set idea yet.

That makes the most thematic sense given the purpose of the HK series. I liked how in KotOR and KotOR 2 they had a few hints at masquerading as other kinds of droids (protocol, for example).

If it's doable, maybe look into the Diplomatic specs, see if one of them has anything cool to bring to the table. Then, when everyone thinks you're just a translation and protocol droid, you whip out the modified blasted pistols.

I'm a big fan of using a protocol droid as an assassin droid, via modified programming and the cybernetic blaster.

I'd also suggest that cunning might be a better fit to model an HK droid than intellect, or at least a cunning 2 / intellect 2 split.

Cunning 2 Intellect 2 would be a better usage of XP, IMO.

Were I to stat an HK-series droid, I'd probably go Brawn 3, Agility 3, Intellect 2, Cunning 2 for a total of 140 XP. Then spend the remaining XP on skills and talents. Bounty Hunter career and the Assassin specialization are a logical choice. However, I might actually prefer Survivalist (ignoring the Hunter talents, and favoring the left side of the talent tree).

As another possibility, I might take the Heavy specialist from the Hired Gun career.

There is the option for sabotuer or even demolitionist. Remember the HK droid at the start of KotOR 2? He sabotaged a Republic ship and a mining facility. Killed dozens and dozens, and barely lifted a finger.

Oooh, I'm gonna build some HK droids. My poor players.

Yeah but he did that by slicing the local droids and impersonating the maintenance officer so computers and deception

If i were to make him i'd go

Brawn: 2

Agility:3

Intellect:3

Cunning: 3

Willpower: 1

Persence: 1

You can then use cybernetics to increase Brawn, Agility and Intellect

I made an assassin droid a while ago, either to run as a character or npc (we'll see) and did a 2 2 1 3 3 3 spread on stats.

I figure that cybernetics are a relatively 'cheap' and easy way for a droid to upgrade brawn, agility, and int, and reflect system damage that needs to be upgraded or repaired...

I think you went 5 xp above the full obligation limit

Yeah those stats would cost 190 XP...

Uh your welcome?...lol your poor players

Thank you everyone for your input on this, now I can go to the table and brainstorm a bit. I'll post what my HK unit will look like when I finish it.

My secondary group is playing through the published adventures right now, and we just finished Escape from Mos Shuuta. After killing Trex, we pulled his body aboard the Krayt Fang. After escaping the TIEs, our party decided to skin Trax's corpse and sell it to a Wookiee. Now, we're trying to decide wether to rename the freighter the Hunter's Mark or the Trandoshan Pelt.

Ignore this, wrong forum.
