How many Star Wars Factions are there really?

Could FFG introduce another faction at some point?

Could FFG introduce another faction at some point?

I don't think there's another good one in in the OT.

Obviously they could do Republic and Seperatist if they wanted(though they don't).

And there's the possibility of the new movies adding new ones. Because we don't know how many factions the Empire splintered into when(or even if) it broke up. It's possible that with the Emperor's death, more groups that just the Rebels tried to break away form the Empire. But we won't know till the movies.

Maybe Mandalore is it's own side now. They controlled 2000 systems during the Clone Wars and were neutral then. Maybe with the Emperor dead, the former Seperatists worlds try and split off again. Maybe a bunch of corporations band together and try and seize power with another droid army.

There's a lot of possibilities with a new Trilogy coming. We need to learn the new state of the galaxy.

You know, Ender. A lot of those ideas sound a lot better than the empire/rebellion reskin it looks like we are getting.

Hope I am wrong though.

Could FFG introduce another faction at some point?

Hopefully not. The current 3 ones are pretty enough for a timespan of more than 40 years (Resistance = Rebellion; First Order = Empire; Scum = always Scum).

However, if the prequel stuff was included (please don't), we would need 2 new factions; the Galactic Republic and the CIS.

PS: there is a "thing" that could be introduced (God no) someday as a completely new faction: the Vong.

Then we would have USA - Rebels, Soviet Union - Empire and China - Vong

Right? :D

You gotta admit the stereotypes fit and the writers of the original movies were influenced this way. Even Ronald Reagan refered to the Soviets as the "Evil Empire"

The Vong basically DO NOT have enough starfighters to be a faction.

Vong are more like the Middle Eastern extremists...

Honestly I would throw in the Vong with Scum. Even though they are more organized they fit the real rottens team theme of scum better. More factions would not really help the game. And I did support the Scum faction idea originally as well.

Vong is on a pilot card. I'm pretty sure it's Etahn Abaht. So FFG are aware of them ....

Thanks God!

Well, they really fit the Villainy part of the faction. :)

But yes: more factions DON'T help the game.

Nyet, that's a Yevethan D-type trifoil

^did you read the thread?

Alright, lets talk about something beside Vong please...

I can't wait for the documentary that focuses on Post-Endor galactic politicking. What happens to the empire? Still the biggest stick in the galaxy? Do they enact sweeping reforms that negate the rebellions' demands? Do the separatists of twenty years earlier rebel?

What about the Dimok and Riplibus?!

Scum and Villainy is many factions thrown together.

Trust me when I say, I'm no fan of the prequels. But honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing prequel factions released. If someone don't like them, then no need to buy or play them. But I wouldn't mind the extra options and would buy them. Vong can £^(¥ ¿!¥ ♡££.

Spies and Smugglers would be a good idea for a new Faction.

How about the Chiss?

As a faction?

Not bloody enough ships, once again.

The only things big enough to actually get their own factions at this point are Reppies and Seppies, anything else is short on fighters.

There's lots of factions in SW, but none of them would have enough material to produce a viable factiOn in X-wing.

Now if you started combining them into stuff like Aliens and the unknown, and Extragalactic Enemies, then maybe you can add a few.

I think the 3 we have models the action from the movies and games very well, though.

There is only one faction and it is Imperial.

I don't think the Vong would fit aesthetically and as someone already stated, they just lack variety in fighters. Armada maybe?

It would be cool to see a Droid Faction...
