Running out of storage room...

By FOXX5, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I have a plano 737 and it fits all my stuff up to wave 7, but with the wave 8 coming I think It will max out my storage. I like to keep all my huge, large and small ships all in one tackle box for easy transportation. My cards I have in a card binder. Is there a better mobile storage unit that's out there? What do you guys do for storage?

I just transport what I plan to fly. :P. Maybe a back-up list, say if on registration the TO mentions that there are a lot of lists of one faction or other I can change the mix a little.

For regular storage I have the game stored out of reach of the cats, and the nephews. It's a toss up who's the most destructive.

I just ordered the Corvette and Raider from greatboardgames.ca (I'm in Canada, and their prices are the best I have found), They should be in my grubby little hands by Friday. Trouble is, I have no place to store them. I am thinking of doing the Stanley case conversion (pull out the dividers, put in some foam etc.) to store both, and possibly the GR-75, which I had purchased previously. I've seen another post where someone did that - and that'll probably work out best for me.

The rest of my collection I have managed to fit into a large plastic tray that is long and wide, but not so tall that I can't stuff it under the bed. But it is seriously packed FULL.

I have a plano 732 for all my X-Wing stuff: ships, cards, dice, everything. I currently have 37 ships between all 3 factions and no huge ships. Eventually my collection will outgrow my storage and at that point I plan to purchase more plano 732's, one for each faction. When I get huge ships, they will likely be transported in their original packaging but will be placed on my shelves when not in use.

I've been scouring the local buy and sell sites for glass displays to put my collection on display in my den (that being the place in my house where my wife's (faulty?) sense of the aesthetic has the least authority). If I could score something like that, I'd have my mini's on display, and just take out what I need when it is time to play. Unfortunately, glass display cases are rare and when you do find them, so pricey!

Myself I use the planoboxes, but I put everything in a duffel bag a friend of mine got for two bucks at a thrift store. I keep the large ships in the clamshells they came in. I have room in there for the Epic ships but I don't transport those often.

That said I also just bring what I'm going to play with most times, I have 1 plano box that is set up to hold the ships, tokens, templates, cards, ect... I might bring the duffel but normally leave it in the trunk of my car.

Wow. I can't get them cheaper than at least €25,- in my country. Each.
