Hey everyone,
The kid in me has always wanted to field a squad that put Boba Fett and IG-88 together. I remember reading the EU books about them as a 9 or 10 year old and always being fascinated by their characters. So naturally, I've always wanted to try them out in X-Wing. We have our small monthly tournament this weekend, and I'd love some input on the squad.
For context, I recently read Sable Gryphon's store tournament report from March, and it's a little take on his approach with some minor changes. Here's the link to his report: http://teamcovenant.com/sablegryphon/2015/03/15/madness-store-championship-recap/
Total: 100
Firespray (50)
-Boba Fett (39)
-VI (1)
-Engine Upgrade (4)
-Tactician (2)
-Seismic Charges (2)
-Seismic Charges (2)
-Andrasta Title (0)
Aggressor (50)
-IG-88B (36)
-VI (1)
-Autothrusters (2)
-HLC (7)
-Advanced Sensors (3)
-Inertial Dampeners (1)
If you read some of Sable Gryphon's feedback at the end, he actually toys with the idea of doing 2 Seismic Charges instead of the Proton Bomb. I love this style, and love the way to affect the way my opponent flies around the Firespray with the threat of the bombs AND Tactician... If you're in range 1 or range 2 of Boba Fett, I get something out of it. I could probably be convinced to only take 1 Seismic Charge, but that's why I'm here in this forum! (BTW - If the K-Wing was already available, I'd DEFINITELY be taking a Conner Net!)
For IG-88, I wrestled hard between going with Advanced Sensors for 3 points, or doing Fire Control System and adding Inertial Dampeners to Boba Fett as well. I'm still on the fence, but I've seen most people go with AS on this type of build. What do you think?
Also, if you read the comment section on his post, there is a lot of interest in putting Autoblaster on Fett. I'm a little unsure myself. But if I dropped the 2 Charges and the Dampeners, I could do that easily. The idea is it's easy to get Fett at PS10 and Engine Upgrade into range 1. Add the re-roll ability and you could re-roll blanks and/or even a crit if you wanted to risk it.
