Pilots from the first starter.

Yeah, they are 2 new ships. But, much like in Wave 1, you will need the Core and the related expansions for all the pilots.

My thought: the x-wing product page shows that the core set is at the printer. I think an interesting idea, would be do the same box etc, update the rules insert, cardboard etc, to match more or less the contents from the new one, but keep the existing original trilogy ship cards and minis.

Two starters, same game, same contents, except you get your choice of original flavor, or force awakens crunch.

Everyone wins, nobody is left without cards they want, and we as the consumer get more choice.

Bam. @ fantasy flight, if you want to pay me for my ideas, ill send you my PayPal info, get at me.

See to me, a new core set is perfect for people just getting into the game. They can then buy 1 of each, because extra dice, templates, damage deck, ect... and get 2 different sets of ships rather then 2 sets of the same ships.

as mentioned, simultaneous core sets with 2 different sets of ships

sure they're both X-wins and Tie Fighters, but they're two completely different versions (ala Tie Advance/x1 and Tie Advance/v1)

now if anyone wants to buy two core, they can do so without doubling up on the lack-luster, apart from certain characters, T-65 X-wing

This wasn't a skyfall thread I just genuinely wondered.

The reverse question is how will people that don't need a third starter get access to the cards from the new movies if it is compatible.

I don't care about the reprints I have enough ties I suppose a fourth x-wing would be fine but not really needed, certainly don't need the cardboard tokens but don't want to pay out just for pilot cards.

I really don't think it will be another X-Wing and 2 more TIEs. People who don't need a another starter will buy one or two for access to the new ships. I wouldn't be surprised if FFG includes a couple of new upgrades cards that people that don't want new ship would buy the set to get.

Did you see the pictures? It is definitely a new sculpt on the X-wing, and the card text appears to be offset (but it was partially obscured so can't be sure). There is also a new upgrade type that looks like some form of robot, so that might lend credence to your thoughts of a new astromech type.

If one had seen the pictures there are probably a few other things in them that would lead one to believe that it will be more than just a variant sculpt and new pilots for the existing TIE and X-Wing.

The only time I could see the core set being discontinued is because FFG have put out a 2.0 starter set to replace it.

I just don't see this happening.

If they do a 2.0 I imagine it would be just a rule book. I doubt any changes would be enough to warrant a completely new starter

what if The Resistance and First Order are new factions - would seem to be pretty reasonable to have 2 separate core sets if that was the case

what if The Resistance and First Order are new factions

Without going into details that should not be talked about... There won't be new factions in a new core set.

there are no reasons (That make any gameplay sense) for there to be two new factions

The rules in a new core set will be outdated 6 months after they are released.

Wave 7 launches this week. I guarantee there will be something in the FAQ that will accompany it which will not be in the NewCore rulebook.

In other words: New rulebook will be outdated _before_ it gets released.

Not so sure; for armada, they had included ship size classifications for wave 1 ships that weren't available yet. I think it's safe to say FFG learned quite a bit from this and other games so far.

Which they in fact got wrong... So they had to errata them with the latest FAQ.

Alex or Frank once said that any given wave is about 18 months from concept to store. That means they started working on Wave 7 in Feb 2014. How long they worked on a new core would depend on how much if any rules changes they make, but they would still need a fair amount of lead time to play test new pilots and upgrades.

It typically takes about what 4 or so months to go from the printer to the store. So they had to start working on this stuff 10 or so months ago I'd bet.

So if there's updated rules in a new core set, that includes things like boost, system upgrades, ect... It may or may not include the final version of SLAM depending on how far they were along with play testing Wave 7 when they finalized the new rule book.

Sidenote: if OT is Original Trilogy and PT is Pre-Original Trilogy. What is the Post-Original Trilogy going to be?

I vote NT, for new trilogy

THE SKY IS FALLING......THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!

No it's not. Those are just Xwing, YWing, and Bwing parts from the epic battle that is ongoing over our planet. The Emperors best is destroying the remnants of the rebel scum as we speak. Ignore the rebellions continued attempts at propaganda films about the Empire's demise. We're as strong as ever.

Good sir, Please remind your commander my men expect to be well paid for this. We wouldn't want to have another Nar Shaddaa would we?

I've thought about additional starters. Keep what we've got but update the rules. Then release a second starter which is Empire vs. Scum containing an interceptor and an new scum ship. Then a third which is Rebel vs. Scum containing an X-wing with all new stuff and a scum ship. New damage cards in the two new ones. And proper starts for what is now a three faction game.

ST is better, it isn't dependent on existing in 2015-2019. It's reasonable that there will be eps 10-12 afterward which would then be the NT. ST will always be true

That said, what would we call eps 10-12? I vote for ATTIGOOH (Another Trilogy? This Is Getting Out Of Hand!) ;)

Perhaps YAST, for Yet Another Sequel Trilogy. Or maybe DYPHABITAST, for Don't You People Have Any Better Ideas Than Another Sequel Trilogy?

I vote for Star Wars Numerals.

ST -> SST -> SSST -> SVT -> VT -> VST...

Here, let me hold that blaster while you sign here, here, here...well you get the idea. Switch hands often while signing and don't forget to initial the top left of each page. Don't miss those initial lines, those darn staples do get in the way and fees and timeframes grow larger and larger for each initial missed.

May I also see your contract again, I must ensure that is in order as well.

I wouldn't count on Episodes 10-12 ANY time soon. It took a decade just to get EVII.

The real question becomes "what do we call the spinoff movies?"

Random trilogy? Miscellaneous?

The real question becomes "what do we call the spinoff movies?"

They've been given an official name by Disney, though I can't recall what it is at the moment. Anthology or something?

So besides Fett who else will get a solo movie slot?
