Vader with Advanced Sensors.

Everybody is super excited about Advanced Targeting Computer on Vader (I agree it´s great btw). The option I´m even more excited about is using Advanced Sensors with VI in the EPT slot and Engine Upgrade in the mod slot. With VI Vader moves after any Soontir, Whisper, Corran etc and can use the sensors to barrel roll and/or boost before moving or make sure any blocking doesn´t stop him from turtling up with focus/evade. This is defensive mentality for sure but Proton rockets could be added to make up for the lost offense with ATC. What do you think?

Vader can only do one action via Advanced Sensors, and loses the ability to do the second one during his Action Phase. It's not worth it.

Don't know

A lot of pts invested in a one trick pony with 2 attack dice

Good point, it specifically says 1 free action on the card then skips perform action step. Agreed that it is best to keep Vader with his 2 actions for maximum effect bu as a skill 9 he is vulnerable to blocking. However the FAQ hasn't been updated since the Raider release so it may change or not.

That being said I think Enhanced Scopes might be better to preserve Vader's actions. Unless you put EU on Vader the only positional correction action he has is barrel roll. Sure TL also works better on higher pilot skill in the activation phase but again the higher the pilot skill the easier it is to get blocked.

Oh, I see, I confused Vader´s ability with Push the Limit which can be great with Advanced Sensors. In this case the original post makes no sense, never mind:(

That sounds like you're pretty scared of ever getting blocked, which I think is overkill. The problem is, if you put any System upgrade other than Accuracy Corrector or Advanced Target Computer on Vader, he's just not doing anywhere near enough damage to justify his cost.

The thing with Vader is you pay a premium for pilot skill and action economy. The stats are awful and the dial is not the best with only 1 speed maneuver are banks so what does vader have to keep him okay while the rest of the TIE advances were rusting away in the past 6 waves. Well his double actions that didn't stress him out. Now the problem is that actions are easy to interrupt with stress and blocking. When Vader gets block the force just abandons him and jumps to someone else.

You are right the stats don't justify the cost but the double action could easily make up for it, however lose that double action and your Vader becomes just that, a loser. :(
