do you think we will ever see the winged MC80?

By ouzel, in Star Wars: Armada

We don't know what Wave 3 or beyond will bring so there is no way to know.

I guess that we'll see some FA related stuff as we are looking in X-Wing...

That's my favorite rebel star ship. I really hope it gets implemented. If not, I'll just get two Mon Cal cruisers and get a winged one from Shapeways.

I expect them to yes, since there are so few different capital ships in the movies (out of the top of my head 4 Imperial ships: ISD, ISD-II, Tector & Executor & 5 Rebel ships: MC-80, Winged MC-80, Nebulon-B, C-90 Corvette, Braha'tok-class gunship), I fully expect them to make a model out of every single one of them except perhaps the Executor due to its size and the Braha'tok due to its invisibility (its visible on like 1 frame).

I would be suprised if we do not see this ship at some point.

But one thing I have always wondered, why do so many people like this ship? Don't get me wrong, its a pretty interesting looking ship, but I just dont see anything that makes me go "WOW! That thing is amazing!"

I for one want to see the Wingless liberty cruisers:

There is a difference, it's not just a Home One copy. I appreciate the small differences in ship classes, like how ANH's Vertical command tower on the Devastator for an ISD-I.

Lore wise, I'm pretty sure each MC-80 was unique. Let's not get crazy here.

Yep, all Mon Cal starships were unique

At the moment I'm worried we may not even see Wave 2

I think that FFG will be very careful when releasing large ships. I have nothing to support this, thats just how i feel.... things might change once I play with the wave 2 ships.

And why wouldn't we see wave 2?

And whatever Disney conjures up in the new film?

So far there may not be any major fleet battles in Episode VII. We never really saw any fleet action until Episode VI in the OT. So it might take awhile for the ST (Sequel Trilogy) to have enough capital ships to be interesting. I personally really hope they do more EU ships, particularly for the Empire and from the old WEG books.

I also know I may be an outsider here, but I would love to get some Clone Wars warships. That was when there were real fleet battles (i.e. two real navies vs. each other, not just a rag tag rebel fleet.) I would love Ventanors, Banking Clan Frigates, and Commerce Guild Destroyers. (Battle Bagels are always fun too.)

Anyhow, on the topic at hand, I fully expect the Liberty class to show up.

Thanks,
Duncan

I would be surprised if it didn't turn up, particularly given its role in the Battle of Endor

If Armada continues to thrive, we will see it. I know I would but one.

I've considered getting an extra Home One, chopping it down to shorten it, and sculpting the wings. Don't know if I'll actually do it, however.

Shapeways seems to be the way to go for this variant. Even if they do make it, I would expect it to be more then a year away.

Perhaps someone could design a 'wing addon' to convert the standard MC-80 type into a winged MC-80.

Why do we need to see fleet battles for there to be models of any episode 7 ships in Armada? Just simply showing them would be enough. Think of how much Vader was merchandised in episode 3 and we only got about a minute of him at the end.

Or maybe Vader was only shown in Episode III so they could merchandise the crap out of him. Either way, it's a good point.

Star Wars Empire at War has some impressive mods and no shortage of big ships from Winged 80's to Super Star destroyers and Battlecruisers and everything inbetween.

It would be odd if FFG somehow failed to find a similar number of ships to add to their game when a video game from 2007 pulled it off :)

Victory Star Destroyer was in there as well.

Victory Star Destroyer was in there as well.

True, but the Victory SD was a WEG creation, so I gave them a pass.
