I Don't Have The Right To Leak These Pics, But I Can Describe Them

By TasteTheRainbow, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I've got pictures that I really can't share here as much as I'd love to. They are of a new person. Blonde hair. Very short. Looks Familiar. A little girl.

My daughter was born Friday :)

She was born pretty early and won't be coming home for a few weeks, but she is doing great. Now to spend the next year damning the lackluster American parental leave system.

Congratulations mate and all the best to you, your wife and especially your little princess!

Pretty funny autocorrect there.... and congratulations!

Congrats!

Congrats. I like the click bait too. ;)

Congratulations!

Best wishes to you, the mother and the baby girl!

My youngest is now four months, it's fun times! :)

Sounds like your first? I know it's a cliche, but this time is going to go by so quickly. Take lots of pictures and remember everything you can.

Yuck, don't get me started. One of my Ph.D. advisors is from Germany, and new moms there get something like 18 weeks of time at full pay, and moms and dads can take up to two years (although most don't take that much) at half(?) pay, with their jobs protected until they return.

She's our second. Our son is 2. He was in the NICU for 4 weeks. In America this time is just lost. Mothers who deliver NICU babies aren't allowed to go back to work because they just had a baby. So they just sit there burning FMLA while their baby is miles away. It is terrible and inhuman tbh.

Our daughter shouldn't have quite as long of a stay and she's doing so much better than our son did at first so we're just ecstatic about that.

My wife is a naturalized U.S. citizen but was German until 2004. So her expectations were closer to the international norm when our son was born. It was rough.

So I told you lots of things you already know! Sorry about that.

Congrats anyway, and I hope she gets to come home soon.

Speak for yourself. We're on our second infant with cholic, and the first few months are a nightmare mix of screaming and no sleep.

And congrats! I hope everyone is well!

Everyone is well. She's actually coming home tomorrow on Force Friday!

I got a little misty-eyed. Congrats again, and good luck!

Tangentially related question. What age do you folks plan on showing your kids the OT for the first time?

Edited by Biophysical

About 3 weeks. :)

I had this whole plan where I was going to cut my 2-year old off of OT until he was five or so. My resolve lasted about 2 months.

I think there's a lot of value in waiting. My kid just loves Star Wars too much already.

We haven't shown the 2-year old Star Wars yet. She pretty much only knows The Muppets and Mary Poppins.

Congratulations!
