Energy limit and gain energy

By Giulio, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello,

I have bought the imperial raider and I started now with huge ships. I have read the huge ships rules but I have a bit of confusion about energy limit and gain energy.

If i well understood the cr90 for example start the game without energy, with its movement it gains energy for example straight 2 and gain 3 energies. I decide to move 2 energies to single turbolaser card and I reach the card energy limit that is 2.

Now I start a new round I move straight 2 and gain 3 energies again. Now what I'd like to know is if I can get only 2 energies because I reach the cr90 limit (5) or I can get all 3 energies because the energies on the weapons cards are not considered.

In few words are considered in the the energy limit all the energy tokens of the cards used by the ship or only the tokens on the ship card?

Thanks in advance

G

Hi Giulio,

I don't play myself, hoping to start epic soon! But I'm pretty sure in your example that the cr-90 would carry on gaining energy; in other words the limit goes up with every card you equip that can have energy assigned to it.

Also, importantly, FFG have just announced that in normal/tournament games, huge ships start with their full complement of energy, across the ship and its upgrades. Hope that helps (and hope I'm right :D)

The energy limit on the ship card only applies to tokens on the ship card. You can, if you gather enough energy, eventually have full energy on all your weapons AND full energy on your ship card.

In fact, the rules for Epic tournaments now say that Epic ships start with full energy on the ship card AND full energy on all secondary weapons. However, they still start with zero energy for the missions that come with the rulebook and cinematic play.

The rules changed a bit.

Now the epic ships start off with full energy on all the upgrades that can hold them, like the turboloasers, and full energy on the ship itself. Unless you're playing a mission then you use what ever the mission says.

If I understand your question, you can gain 3 energy on the second turn. You can have upto 5 energy on the CR-90's aft section, 6 energy on the Raiders aft section. Energy you have on the weapons cards does not count towards the ship energy limit.

So a Raider with all 3 single turbolasers can have 12 energy on it. 2 on each of the 3 turbolasers, and 6 on the aft of the ship.

But you can never have more then 6 energy on the ships aft section.

Thank you very much for the prompt replies.

So, in friendly matches Huges start with zero energy, in tournament rules Huges start with full energy on the ship and on the weapons.

Energy limit is applied on every single card as reported on it.

Thanks again.

Just so you know, a lot of people apply the tournament rules even to their casual games, because the tournament rules for Epic ships are considered more balanced.

I'd also point out that a lot of "friendly" matches may have ships starting with ALL of their energy spots filled. Now this isn't the rules but it is how some people play so they can get right into the action.

Yeah I'd play by the Tournament rules because it makes the epic game better. The only time I wouldn't if I was playing a mission of some sort and the mission said the ship starts with 0 energy.
