Characters Turn Force-Sensitive by Exposure?

By RodianClone, in Game Masters

I was thinking about giving the players an option of turning Force Sensitive after beeing exposed to relics, a holy place, shrine or holocron.

What do you think and how would you do it?

If that's what they want to use to justify spending 20 XP to buy the Universal Specialization, then I say go for it.

If you're thinking of giving it to them for free, I'd say you should reconsider.

The Valley of the Jedi does already set a precedent for this, the Dark Jedi Desann used it to make force users in the plot of Jedi Outcast. I would only allow it through xp expenditure as CaptainRaspberry says, unless this is the plot hook for a specific event.

Unless you're planning to give it to the entire party.... then it's probably ok...

Yes, that was the idea. I was thinking of giving a little extra after the session and suggest it to them, either in play somehow or when I give out xp.

Nice. Thank you, that`s awesome!

Yea, I could see myself giving everyone Force Rating 1 if I wanted to turn them all into Forceusers and move on to FnD. Does the books say anything about getting FR 1 any other way than FnD careers or the universal specs?

I remember reading in the EotE CRB a while back that you usually got FR 1 by taking the spec but there were other ways... Idk, I might be wrong or they were talking about the then upcomming FnD CRB...

However, in this case I was thinking it`s a player choice, so a little extra xp and a nudge would be best I think.

Start out with an F&D Career, or use the Force Sensitive Exile or Force Sensitive Emergent universal specialties. Those are the only two ways, per RAW.

Eh, the universe is full of handwavium. Someone gets a transfusion of Midiclorians, there's a reactor leak, you get bitten by a radioactive spider, whatever.

I say go for it!

As for me, I'll be using the destruction of Alderaan as my catalyst for any players who intend to become Force Sensitive. Perhaps they have moments of insight prior, but when those 2 billion people get blasted all at once, that's a lot of Force energy suddenly released, and a lot of ripples that will set of folks on the brink.

So yeah, i don't think it should always work on just anyone, but nothing wrong with giving a little push.
