What's the Best Pairing of Large Scum Ships?

By superdave, in X-Wing

What two Scum large ships do you like to fly together? I know dual Aggressors is a favorite and multiple Firesprays have shown up regularly, but what about Bossk + Boba? Or IG-88 covering the YV's tail? What do you like to play? What's good to play?

I don't know about the new ships, but IG-88 and Boba is a thing.

I can see Latts Razzi and IG-88 B being solid.

ScarlRazzi could be nasty as well. K4, Weapons Engineer on Razzi, Kath with some ion bombs and Ion Projector to keep the enemy on her rear.

What kind of loadouts do you do with these? (I just got my first Firespray and I'm looking for ideas.)

I'm sure others could come up with stronger builds but this looks fairly solid.

Boba Fett (Scum) (39)
Lone Wolf (2)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Glitterstim (2)
Slave I (0)
Bossk (35)
Calculation (1)
Outlaw Tech (2)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Tactician (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Hound's Tooth (6)
Total: 99

I'm currently loving HLC Kath with Bombtastic Azzameen. Season to taste.

I really like:

Boba Fett (39)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tactician (2)
Glitterstim (2)
Slave I (0)
Extra Munitions (2)
Proton Bombs (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)
IG-88B (36)
Lone Wolf (2)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Mangler Cannon (4)

I believe Sable Gryphon won a regional with

IG-88B (36)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Autothrusters (2)
Boba Fett (Scum) (39)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Proton Bombs (5)
Tactician (2)

if sensors, IG B and D

if FCS, IG B and C

if Wave 8, double up on toilet seats/pogo sticks

the YV-666 does not make a fat ship (no defensive tech + 1 agility, no evade = bleck). Imo it's going to find its home at the head of a mini-swarm, if anything. Ability to include int agent without crippling itself only adds to that assumption.

it's cheap and chunky, but definitely not fat ship material

Don't forget Engine upgrade on Boba as well. That card makes PS10 Boba great.

Took a list similar to Gryphon's (Feedbacks on both ships instead of the bomb) to Slovak Regionals and did horribly.

Now I am having a ton of fun with:

IG-88B

Push the Limit

Heavy Laser Canon

Adv. Sensors,

Autothrusters

Inertial Dampeners

Boba Fett

Veteran Instincts

Tactician

Engine Upgrade

Inertial Dampeners

I'll kick IG-88 out in favour of Bossk once that appears in the local stores.

It doesn't have a turret. It's moderately more maneuverable than a Lambda. The HT will not make any dent in the meta besides for people trying it out. Just like how everything Scum that's not dual IGs is irrelevant in the meta.

A HT will get one or two shots off and then have a turret 4 straight past it and then it's game.

Yeah I have one and have been using it. It is very similar to a Lambda the way it lumbers. I like Razzi because you can swing in, pick up your TLs, and then just drift off lazily turning and still use your ability. I think it is a good support ship. I haven't used Bossk or the other named pilot yet so I'm not really certain how they work but even with the front half of your ship being firing arc and an engine upgrade it was a challenge to get a shot on a pair of TIE Advanced and a TIE Defender.

apart from IGs, we've had some thug life and Xizor popping up in the meta

the YV I'm afraid doesn't have the same level of raw power in either Bossk or Moralo Eval (lol) [though Moralo is far better off with just K4 and HLC), but the PS 5 and the generic (supported by Bossk + gunner) have unexplored utility. The slaver especially is stupid cheap considering the accuracy he's bringing (36 for immidiate, fully modded shots).

we're not going to see those returns until the pogostick comes out with its deadeye + r4 + recon + plasma torp generics, which should be priced around the ballpark of the fringer (so 38ish)

the problem with IGs is that Moralo is only 2 points less for far less i.t.o returns. In order to get much out of him, he has to be as cheap as possible because he simply won't be as survivable as an IG. 6 points less at 44 (HLC + k4) might let him see play, 46 at most (add int agent + fins, giving him shenanigans that IGs don't have access to)

What's the thug life list?

Boba (Veteran Instincts, Gunner, Inertial Dampeners, Engine Upgrade)

IG-88B (Veteran Instincts, Advanced Sensors, Heavy Laser Cannon, Inertial Dampeners, Autothrusters)

100 points

Thug Life is a squad including 3-4 Syndicate Thug Y-Wings, each usually with the Ion Cannon Turret, BTL-A4 title and R4 Agromech or Unhinged Astromech droid. There are a few variants of course.

I think the Slaver could see plenty of use. A 34 point investment when you include Outlaw Tech and the K4 Security Droid to pretty much always be able to modify dice (and plenty of times w/ TL and focus) on a 12 hit point ship with an extra wide firing arc seems like a decent deal.

It has some bad matchups but it doesn't seem horrible. With 66 points left to spare you will be able to add some solid company for him. If people go straight for it you can chew them up with the rest of your list.

I went 6-0 (2nd after Swiss) at the NorCal Regional with:

Boba Fett (Scum) (39)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Gunner (5)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
IG-88C (36)
Lone Wolf (2)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Autothrusters (2)
Total: 100
It took me a looong time (like, months) to settle on that particular configuration, but it performed extremely well. I'd say in all games I've played with it (50+), I'm winning 85-90 percent.

I actually had to stare at this for a full minute to figure out what you were doing with C.

It's almost like the Aggressor is an actual ship and not just an IG88B accessory. Bravo.

Pretty sweet squad- thanks for sharing. How do you use Inertial Dampeners successfully? I struggle to see the utility.

With Boba at pilot skill 10 he's probably moving last almost every round. When he's in a situation where a ship he wants to target is directly in front or behind him in his current position you can burn your Inertial Dampeners to stay in your present position and blast your enemy to pieces.

It's not always going to come up but since Boba's thing is getting in close and into the fur ball where he can often thrive it can happen frequently enough.

The threat of it can also mess with an opponent and effect their decisions.

That's exactly right. And Fett is in there as a Soontir-hunter-from-Hell, and just the ability to blow ID and stop on a dime gives Fel fits when he tries to get into the blind-spots.

But yeah, knowing just how much Fett's ability will kick in, because everybody else has moved, made the ID work well. I used it maybe half to a third of all games, but it had an effect on every game, just being there.

ScarlRazzi could be nasty as well. K4, Weapons Engineer on Razzi, Kath with some ion bombs and Ion Projector to keep the enemy on her rear.

KRazzi?

Thanks for the tips on ID- that makes a lot of sense.
