New player with questions

By Crayon, in X-Wing

I went to my flgs today, walked around to the section with x wing, and saw the cr 90.

So I asked the owner if anyone there had one yet and (I guess most of the players are imperial or scum) the only person whos bought one hasnt been around for awhile. With that knowledge I decided to liberate the vessel. I see it as helping out the rest of my community, because now the raiders have something nice to sit accross from. And if it doesn't see use then so be it.

I also picked up aces. Tbh though, I couldn't stop looking at the pair of z95's. I'll probably play with my X's and aces for a bit before deciding weather to increase the number of B's or A's first. Or maybe I will get a Y as well, just to have one from each of the original squadrons.

They almost convinced me to get the transport, but I should save that for another day.

How do I transport this stuff arround?

I put all my ships in £2.99 plastic storage compartment boxs from a uk shop called 'home bargains'

each one has about 28 compartments and each compartment is big enough for the dial, the ship, the base and all tokens.

You can keep everything you need for each faction in one unless your collection is huge.

The ships are so light they dont need padding, in fact i find foam padding cases to be counter productive as they sometimes snag and break thin items like bwing cannons or z95 lasers.

The other bonus is that every small ship i have fits into four of them with room to spare. Large and huge ships i just leave at home, never play them in casual games at the store.

A lot of people buy a Plano 1374 and use that. It works great if you don't own a ton of ships. If you worry about damage, you can pick up some thin foam rubber or even thick felt and line the cells with that.

Myself I own 3-4 if not more of every ship produced so far, including the Transport, CR-90 and Raider, so I use those types of plano boxes and put them in a duffel bag.

The best option is to get a tackle box from a local store. You can go Wal-mart or Bass Pro or whatever is your local favorite in whatever country you are in. When you go to the store, try to open up all the different cases and find the trays you want the best. Swap them around between cases when no one is looking.
