Hi everyone! I've got some good news and some bad news. Good news: Wave 7 should be shipping today, so I'll have it (hopefully) by Friday. Bad news: There was a delay with the Hound's Tooth expansion, so it won't be releasing with the rest of Wave 7. FFG has assured me that it is on the way, but it won't make its debut with the rest of the ships.

Good thing I won mine then at a local Wave 7 prerelease tourney.

If true this makes my wallet happier. I need some cash to get the FA stuff too.

Good thing I didn't have the cash for it for my first order...

I'm hopeful it's just this store (sorry for OP). Otherwise it will hold up my entire order of Wave VII + Raider

Honestly there's not much advantage in preordering. You don't get anything special and I've never seem MM or CSI run out of stock in the first few days.

I get a discount as well at my FLGS but it is different than ordering online. Ordering at a store doesn't hold up your entire order when thing doesn't come in like when you preorder online.

My friend had a notice that his Hound's Tooth will arrive on Aug. 22nd. I haven't heard anything on mine yet. He went thru CSI, mine thru MM.

As to buying at LGS, they end up being 30-40% HIGHER, and I dont game there, so there is 0 benefit buying locally!

Besides, aesthetically it looks objectively terrible.

Yeah I always pre-order as I don't have a local store, and the closest one doesn't get much stock in at all so it's pretty random as to what you can pick up.

I also pre-order through a site where you pay up-front, and so I pre-order when I have the money, knowing that it doesn't matter if 1/2/3/4 months down the line when the stuff ships I'm skint As it's all paid for already.

I disagree. Subjectively terrible. I for one like it post-TCW redesign. The window on the front makes it look so much better.

I have never had an issue with MM and they ship quickly. CSI is good too but a little longer wait as it is far away. I use both. The HT delay is not the store's fault.

The bad news - Wave 7 is NOT COMPATIBLE with the new core set.

The Hounds tooth is the ship I was most excited for in wave 7, was planning on getting 2 of them. Will wait till it comes out to spend my $300 or so.

The Tactician idea was lame. I'm glad you cant stack tacticians. People complain about the game diversity yet want to run 3 tacticians. NOT FUN.

I have never had an issue with MM and they ship quickly.

I started playing almost exclusively at my LGS. So now I buy there as well. But before then I bought at MM and I never had issues either.

But, that doesn't make preordering a good idea either. The only reason to do that is if you worry about them running out of stock, which hasn't happened in some time.

We don't preorder at my store. We let them know who all will be buying how many when it drops so they know how many to get, then we pay when they arrive. Is that still preordering? Ok then, preordering without paying upfront.

I had a FLGS in the last town I was in that did this, but if you decided you didnt want something, it was no big deal, just extra inventory for the shelf. Demand was higher than supply most of the time.

In a perfect system, the customer should be able to place an order and submit payment info, then once the order has been filled and checked, the card should be charged, the the package shipped.

Unfortunately, with some places "preorders" they take the order, take payment, then sit on it till ALL the order is in stock before shipping! This is why the Hounds Tooth delay gets so frustrating as the rest of the order will sit there til who knows when!

I dunno. As long as you only group one particular "wave" in the same pre-order, it generally works out. This time it might not work out because of the Hound's Tooth. Next time there might not be enough stock to order after they arrive. Stuff happens and you can never predict what the stuff will be.

I generally pre-order. I figure if something like this happens, I will get it a few weeks later. If stock runs out before I get my order in, I might be waiting months instead.

Besides, if I want free shipping, I'll most likely need all the ships available to qualify for it.

Nope! This isnt preordering in my opinion, as you havent made any commitment. The store is simply taking a "poll" to see how much stock they should order!

Just as an FYI, miniature market (and I'm sure cool stuff as well) are generally pretty great about letting you change your order however you want. If you want to take the HT off, they'll let you. You may pay for shipping if you no longer qualify, or you can add something else if you want. All you have to do is send them a message on their site with what you want to do.
