I just love 'em. I know it's more time consuming but I wouldn't mind seeing them more often. It's very cinematic, it takes more planning skill, you can create narrow escapes.
How many of you are planning to introduce them in your casual games?

In my casual games I'll just put four transports which just go straight across the map.
It's called "shipping lanes"
Oh this is really a thing? Color me surprised. I wouldn't have thought they would actually do it.
I would definitely try them in my casual games, but I don't have a Raider
Yup, it's a thing. Did something similar in a game a few months back, rolling randomly for where on the edge of the play area each one came in and how fast it was going. Great fun! Had to be careful maneuvering, especially near the edge or you could find your ship getting slammed by an asteroid hurtling at it!
It's cool to see it actually used in the mission.

This sounds awesome! Why haven't I done this? Oh wait. I don't have four transports. ![]()
But this does sound really cool.

Having moving asteroids/debris is something ive been pushing my friend to do in our games basically since the beginning, so I was more than pleased to see it in the Raider mission.
Has anyone tried it? How did it work out?
I read through the Raider mission and it sounded really cool, but I'd love to hear someone's account of how it actually worked on the tabletop.
If it's practicable, I'd definitely consider implementing it in the occasional game to spice things up.
What I always wanted my friend to do was pull out his scatter dice from his Warhammer games so we could make the asteroids move in completely random directions and speeds every turn. ![]()
this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYSupJ5r2zo it even looks like the raider!!

I don't know if that would work, it would feel really strange to see an asteroid move in a completely different direction, it doesn't have thrusters after all. And game wise it would be impossible to anticipate and it would become a very luckbased game.
The rules btw for the moving asteroids are simple.
At the end of Activation each asteroid moves directly away from the edge previously declared the Asteroid edge.
The tip of the range ruler is placed perpendicular touching the edge closest to the asteroid edge. Then the asteroid slides forward until the front of the asteroid touches the end of Range 2. If it overlaps or moves through a ship base, that small or large ship is immediately destroyed. A huge ship gains a face up card and destroys the asteroid.
Asteroids that fly off the edge, or are destroyed, are replaced the next planning phase entering within range 1 from the asteroid edge.

Huh? Do you have the official rules wording?

Well, i didn't type everything as it is written in the Raider mission specs but pretty much this is it.
What is "the edge previously declared the Asteroid edge?"
The way you described placing the range ruler is confusing to me.
Edited by z0m4dsomewhat related anybody try the blown up ship makes a debreis field thing?? makes the game interesting when you are flying against a swarm!!
If Rebels set up on the north edge and Imperials south, then the asteroid edge is either east or west, as determined by the Imperial player in secret at the start of the mission.
So the asteroids always move parallel to the set up edges of the playing area.
