It already crossed my mind that FFG is behind the leak (with Disney's approval of course) to build some hype. Would make sense. Give them a chance to see the reactions before an official commitment is made.

And what value would that have? Even if the response was somehow universally negative, they can't change anything 2 weeks before launch.

How do we know that? Yes, it's extremely likely, but I just want to make sure you're going off clues and haven't seen some official news/spoilers I haven't seen yet

I don't want to venture into territory that could get this thread disappeared, so being as vague as possible the original post on the leak here implied as much. Sure, you could be right, but what benefit would implying it was already in stores when it's not going to be have in the 'FFG is leaking intentionally' scenario?

I'd be surprised if we don't get that special forces Tie Fighter.

My prediction is that whatever is coming on 9/4 will be what was leaked and individual expansions for those ships. The other ships from the movie will make up Wave 9.

The only thing that makes me think that might not be the case is that coming up with enough pilots might be difficult.

I'm pretty sure it will be. The reason why:

1) In Flight Report, Christian says they have Ep 7 stuff.

2) He says it is "on the water now" (As of Aug 1)

3) he says if you go to midnight sales on Sept 4th, there will likely be something there for you. (Star Wars FFG, not specifically x-wing)

4) pictures leaked of appropriate item 2 weeks beforehand.

Why would it NOT be that?

Yeah, it makes no business sense for anything FFG might be making for EP7 to not be on sale that night.

It's THE big Star Wars product release day. Every other company making Star Wars stuff is wheeling out it's products for sale, in-hand that day.

FFG would look pretty dopey if they were the only one going 'This is our amazing new product! And you can...pre-order it right now!...for delivery in weeks/months...'

The other games have different product codes and none seem to be missing... but they could be numbers next in line after all the wave 2 and hoth stuff is tallied.
