Doni, Gunner, and TLT

By balindamood, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ok, I cannot find a ruling on this.

Gunner, TLT, Cluster missiles allow for some forms of second attack. Does Doni's ability trigger twice? Does the cost of Doni's ability affect both attacks?

Thanks.

No, her ability only applies once per round.

However with gunner, TLT or clusters, you can choose any of the attacks you do to be the one that regains the shield or gains the extra red dice.

So if you missed with both TLTs, you could then add a red dice to your gunner attack to have all 3 be 3-dice attacks.

So I'm still a little unclear... If Miranda is firing with the TLT, and you choose to spend one shield to gain one additional attack die, do you attack with FOUR red dice for BOTH attacks? Or do you attack with FOUR for the first TLT attack, and then back to THREE for the second TLT attack?

Miranda's ability works on a single attack. So if she spent a shield token before her first attack, the first attack would be at 4 dice, and the second attack would be at the normal 3 dice.

Incorrect. Because there is only 1 "choose attacker" step, both shots from the tlt are considered 1 attack, so if she spent a shield she would roll 4 attack dice for both shots.

You are incorrect. reread the wording on her ability. It says one per round when attacking, not when choosing a target. You only get the benefit on one attack.

Cluster Missiles are the most likely controlling precedent, and their FAQ entry says they're treated as two separate attacks. And yes, I know that doesn't quite make sense for either Cluster Missiles or TLT, but if you read it as "two separate attacks, except that you skip the Declare Target step for the second attack," it works.

And think of it this way, with TLT or Clusters, you don't get to use your focus or target lock on both rolls, just the one. Because they are separate attacks.

Think of her ability like that. And even if it is ruled as being 'one' attack, it still says 'once per round', and so if the dice rolls are separated, it STILL only effects one of them.
