Engine Upgrade's still pretty useful...
Nah, I personally haven't used Engine Upgrade in ages. In fact, I gave away a cope of the card yesterday.
It's an expensive crutch for people who can't be bothered figuring out a ship's movement dial.

Really?!? What version of the CGI editions is this from, there are so many I lost count...
Have they finally added in that scene where Luke is talking to Biggs and Wedge about joining the academy when they look up and see the space battle between the corvette and the ISD.
It always saddened me that it got cut from A New Hope.
^Keep in mind Kasdan's done like 3 things in the last 20 years, though, and I don't trust Disney not to meddle.
Exactly. Just look at what happened with George Miller and the Mad Max franchise. After Beyond Thunderdome he directed Happy Feet, Happy Feet 2 and Babe Pig in the City. Why they would let him back and make Fury Road is beyond me. What a disaster that was.
Happy Feet was good, though? (no idea on the other two)

No way is the last 30 years or so of Expanded Universe material dead just because some business suites say so...and why anyway? Just so some talent-less hack director/script writers can make up what ever BS they want?
Yeah! Who's this "Lawrence Kasdan" guy, anyway? Exactly what part of his resume does he think qualifies him to write a Star Wars movie?
Hmm that name seems familiar....I get the feeling he was the main writer for Empire....
In my defence I was generalizing (but mostly looking at JJ)
Also, as a point, just because he/she was good back in the day doesn't mean they still have what it takes.
Look at Riddly Scott, PROMETHIUS excuse my fail spelling o_O

I can only assume that last part was sarcasm, Fury Road was brilliant
Disney did will with Marvel, so
Oh wait JJ really messed up Star Trek, so
I don't know the correct level of hype!

Am I missing something here? As far as I was aware, Mad Max: Fury Road was almost universally well received, both critically and financially...

I'm actually a bit worried, because JJ likes Star Wars and not Star Trek.
I don't really want to sit through 2 hours of "look at me I'm making hamfisted OT references that aren't plot-relevant, guys".

Indeed.
In fact: I'd love to see the Ark Angel as a Huge Scum ship. I dunno it's scale, but if it fits... Gods. It's ugly and pretty and fits so well.
Bonus: it could be a Scum ship that could yahe Darth.
I am going to mark the eff out as soon as we start seeing cards derived from the comics. EVAAN VERLAINE AS A PILOT WHEN YOU RELEASE X-WING ACES FFG PLZ AND THANKYOU
Edited by RodafowaI'm not sure if it'd be Large or Huge. The first picture we see of it makes it look like it's only 4-5 times the size of Vader's TIE.In fact: I'd love to see the Ark Angel as a Huge Scum ship. I dunno it's scale, but if it fits... Gods. It's ugly and pretty and fits so well.

For reference:
I'd say it's only about 2.5 times as long (tall?) as the Advanced, if you don't count that dorsal(?) turret. Especially if the Ghost is Large, I don't think Ark Angel would present any problems.
I'm thinking Aphra, 0-0-0, Darth Vader, and a generic Relic Hunter as pilots.
Edited by Vorpal SwordMy god, that thing's uglier than the K-Wing.
It's almost as ugly as the non-aquatic version of the Pulsar Skate.
Lose the tv satellite dish and the weird gun(?) on top that is angling to the right and it's not too bad.
Interesting point. The material anyone actually wants is so varied though.
My group are only interested in OT ships when we play. We've yet to purchase any EU models (and yes, I see the hypocracy in using EU pilots/upgrades). What do we want? More OT. Should everyone think like this. No.
I see other groups who really want prequel ships in this game and are met with a considerable opposing argument. Assault gunboats, Jabba's barge, TIE (insert random word here), etc.
I completely agree with your point. I can speak for myself, in that I would rather see iconic, recognisable SW ships on the table than obscure EU creations. I can however, appreciate that others are fans of, and strong advocates for specific ships/factions. But on the whole, I think the community would rather see ships that have at least seen some screen time.
Your point is well taken about people having varried tastes. I also think there simply isn't much EU material _left_. I honestly think there are only about 3-4 ships in the EU that haven't been made that are anyone's favorite ship.
I also remember a similar conversation back after Wave 2, when we were like "ok, TIE Bomber, B-Wing, and... What else is there?!"
Granted, my list has to scramble for more Scum ships, but I still have a list of 8 more waves of ships that would be neat to see. Some may be a bit obscure, but I think it would be a solid 6 waves at least.
There's plenty of good EU material left.
But I think Disney is having more of a say in things.

During the in flight report they said that with the Legends material in such flux with all the new canon sources coming out that they are treading lightly until it sorts itself out.

I can think of plenty of Scum and plenty of Imperial, but EU Rebel ships are few and far between now - and some of the ships the Rebels do have crossover into Scum territory.

Oh, I'm not so sure about Disney calling the shots to that extent, the recent X-Wing waves have tended to have a specific theme, though.
Wave 6 was Scum, Wave 7 was Bombers, Wave 8 is the Rebels TV series... somewhere in between 7 and 8 it looks as though we'll be hearing about an Episode VII wave.
But X-Wing is a best seller for FFG, and they'll want to continue releasing more expansions while the Star Wars iron is hot. I doubt we'll see two waves worth of ships in Episode VII, let alone two years, so in the interim period between Episode VII and Episode VIII I imagine FFG will continue to revisit existing ships with Aces packs and mine the EU for new products at the same time.

No offense but do you really need some official source to tell you that what is obviously a YT-2400, is a YT-2400?
I mean, Shadows of The Empire IS regrettably, canon, after all.

Where is a picture of something that is obviously a YT-2400 in the films? Because the ship in that scene is a mostly indistinct blur, part of which is glowing. It is flatish, but with protrusions on the top and bottom that could be anything. The cockpit side isn't visible, which is the most distinctive part of the 2400. The ship in that picture could be almost any YT series ship, or even a different type of ship.

So the rectangular engine, pod on the side, and turret mounds aren't giving it away?
Shadows of the Empire is not Canon.
