I may be able to get the price of the t-shirts down from $15 to about $10 if I go with a two color design (using a black t-shirt to have the effect of providing black as a third color by outlining elements in white) down from the four color design at the head of this thread. Here's a new, two color design I've done:
Looks very chic. A definate improvement over the first design (IMO blue just doesn't go with the black/yellow concept). Makes me wish I could've made allowances for time/budget to join you guys on Nov.
As the editor for the Art Department, I give it my approval.

If it's a black t-shirt, I suppose that means bringing a roll of duct tape in order to tear out pieces to spell your titles if you choose to take one? Or just requiring someone to use a black light so you can read black marker written on black fabric.
I like the new deisgn. I'd be game for buying a shirt as well. Right now I don't have any non work shirts, except those from 40k tournaments, and could use a bit more of a mix up.
Casey, thanks. I'm still waiting on pricing info from the shirt shop, but if my extrapolations from the price breakdown I got on the prior design are somewhat reasonable, I'm figuring the cost per t-shirt at the quantity I expect to order to be about $10-$12 per t-shirt. If people who are coming wish to get an additional t-shirt, I'm happy to sell them to you at cost. Just email me with quantity and size(s) that you want for the additional t-shirts. If people who aren't attending are interested, I'd be willing to ship them to you at cost (for the t-shirt and shipping/packing). If interested, you can email me your name and size (please make it clear that you are not coming, but would want the t-shirt shipped). As I get close to the time I have to place the order with the shop, I'll confirm with you that you're still interested and we can work out payment and shipping details. I can't promise I can ship t-shirts to everyone who asks (if anyone asks), as I will only be able to manage so many shipments (I have a job and a happy marriage I'd like to keep
).
despite being a poor grad student, i've used last year's t-shirt enough to justify paying that much for a new one this year. cool design!
Whether or not I make it, I'd like to pick up a T-shirt as well. (I'll send money with the DC folks that go up there.) My size is large...who do I email with that info?

Thanks Lars! (I know I'm a little slow...just saw this
)
lol. your welcome. I had to page back to remember what you were talking about, but nah your not slow
I just recently got into this game and, living on Long Island, it looks like I'll be able to make it to the Black Friday Tournament. While I've only been playing for a couple of weeks, and my card pool is far from complete, I figure this would be a good opportunity for me to a) get some more AGoT games in, which is always good and b) get a look at a variety of competitive decks to get a feel for the various builds.
So, how does this event normally run? How long does it last, are there casual games going on while others play in official games, etc? In short, what do I need to know to get the most out of this experience? Looking forward to it!
Jeff
Black Friday will be "joust" (i.e., two player) matches using LCG decks (valid cards are those from the LCG era all chapter packs through The Battle of Blackwater Bay (including chapter packs the preceded the Core Set), the Core Set, and Kings of the Sea (the Greyjoy expansion), all subject to the errata and bannings in the official FAQ. If any additional releases occur (the likely candidate is the Princes of the Sun Martell expansion), they may be valid if there is enough time between release and the event to let people get them we're waiting to see right now.
There will be approximately four rounds of Swiss pairings in which everyone is playing (an odd number of players means that each round someone has a bye). From that, the top 4 (or perhaps 8) players will be determined and they will play a two (or three) round elimination bracket to determine the champ. While that is happening, the other players will be playing either additional Swiss paired matches or maybe just "pickup" games of their own selection. So a player will probably get in about 6 games and it will probably run approximately 6 hours, all told. After the "formal" competition is done, people may stay around to continue playing pickup games as we will still have use of the room.
I thought I'd throw it out there again, but I am willing to host someone in my apt in the city if they need a place to crash either the night before or after black friday. Just email the nightswatch email and Jason will forward it to me... I don't check in to my account on these forums that often, so emailing would be faster... or you could post here, i'll probably see it.
It looks like the new logo design will result in the cost per t-shirt at the quantity I expect to order to be just a freckle over $9, so I'm happy to sell extras for $9. For anyone planning to attend who is interested in purchasing additional shirts, email me at the address in my signature line with your name, desired quantity and size(s). (And, of course, if you are planning on attending and haven't yet told me your shirt size for the shirt you'll get for attending, email me that info by Nov 13.) For people not attending who are interested in the t-shirts, you also may email me (Twn2dn, I already have your info ~although it will be horribly lame if you don't make it). If you can arrange to have someone attending pick up your t-shirt, that's easiest (for me
). Otherwise, I can ship them domestically. To keep it simple, I'd use the Medium Flat-Rate Box USPS boxes (Domestic Rate: $9.85) for this. I could probably fit three t-shirts into one such box (just guessing at that), if you want to get more than one. My priority is getting everyone who attends one t-shirt and, also, I need to keep this manageable, so I can't promise if you email me requesting t-shirts shipped that I can do so (of course, I'm expecting only a trickle of requests, if any, so I don't expect that to be an issue). Chances improve dramatically that I'll actually have a shirt I can sell you if you make your request by Nov 13.
I'm happy to announce that I will be attending the Black Friday event this year. Like the NYC guys, I'm looking forward to a mono y mono with the current Black Friday champion... ~gotta school him a bit in NYC, that routine's getting boring down here.
First, reminder to interested persons to email me your t-shirt size by Friday (11/13).
Second, unlike past years, this year we would appreciate it if players brought deck lists . We expect to have a writeup of the event results here on FFG's site which will include the winning deck list. It probably goes without saying, but for the benefit of any newer players who might be attending, draw decks must contain at least 60 cards of which there is no more than three copies of cards by title (e.g., "Robb Stark" from the core set and "Robb Stark" from the Greyjoy expansion have the same title and therefore are counted together for the 3 copy limit) and plot decks of exactly 7 cards with no duplicates unless the plot card explicitly permits it. Card errata and bannings in FFG's FAQ for the game will be in force. LCG era cards (i.e., all chapter packs, the core set, and the Greyjoy expansion) only are valid.
Yes - deck lists are a must. We may well do random deck checks throughout.
And today is 11/13 - and Princes of the Sun is nowhere in sight - so those cards will not be legal for Black Friday. Maybe next time Martell fans.- I'm sure not shedding any tears.
And to further clarfiy - if we have over 16 participants, which is starting to look very likely, we will cut to Top Eight. 16 or under - we'll cut to Top 4.
Best wishes to all those going. I'm looking forward to the reports.

Room is confirmed...
Prizes are on hand...
T-shirts have arrived...
We're looking good for this Friday! Stag Lord and I should arrive at the cafe 11:30am-noon to set up for an approximate 12:30 start. I hopefully just emailed one person in each travel group that I'm aware of that is coming with my cellphone # --that will be the best way to reach me on Friday. If you can call/text with an ETA for your arrival, that would probably be helpful (if you text, include your name since I won't know your number).
Please remember your decklists.
I can bring my board game if anyone has time afterwards and wants to play a game. I haven't played it yet, and i've owned it for almost 6 months now!
Would that be the Game of Thrones board game you're referring to?

Warning: The board game is awful. It's a convoluted knock-off of Diplomacy that replaces the negotiations (the whole point and source of fun in Diplomacy) with a heap of mechanics that are sort of overwhelming when acting in parallel.
