SirWilli's Workshop: Imperial Assault stuff

By SirWillibald, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Wow. Simply amazing...

I'd like to see horizontal versions of the tuckboxes and maybe in may native tongue (italian).

Maybe you can provide a template....

Thanks! But I fear that horizontal versions are not planned at the moment, would mean to tweak and rearrange each single tuckbox. That's quite some work. I can add it to my list, but won't make any promises.

Italian verions are possible, in fact I could it myself if you provide phrases. But, same problem, lots of little adjustments, clicks, and pdf making. I can give it a try with a template, but again, might take some time (X-Wing wave 7 hangars will keep me busy).

Thanks for taking in account my suggestions.

I know that they means a lot of addtional work.

If and when you'll have time for an italian version send me a pm: I can provide the italian logo and the translated phrases.

For a template (a tuckbox with all the graphics but with no text) I see two solutions: 1) an editable pdf 2) a .psd files with a layer for the text.

Again, thank you for all your work

Will the boxes be able to contain sleeved cards?

And btw: Seperate boxes for all class cards (both rebels and imperials) are ready and will be included in the upload. Only eight big boxes to go, but not today... :)

Fantastic stuff so far, I will definitely be using this once I purchase the expansion and my current storage is outgrown. Are there any plans for a "command base" for the heroes and imp player like you have in your Battlelore and Armada sets? I can see them being super useful while playing and in between play sessions.

:)

Feel free to share your experience and opinion about what kind of things should be included!

Character card, equipment, and class cards with maybe a small place to record damage, stress and credits should do it.

Credits?

Damage and stress are tokens, credits aren't.

Maybe did you mean conditions?

Descent 1e's campaign box came with some pretty simple boxes to keep your characters in in between sessions, to store all purchased abilities, current damage, equipment, etc.

Something like that for IA, with cool art, would be very cool.

Also, some way to organize the tiles.

In addition to the things listed here.(except credits) you'll also want top be able to turn class and item the side to account for exhausting them.

I'm the campaign you earn xp and credits to buy upgrades after each mission. I assume that's what he means.

Guys, thanks for the great input!

The tiles.. That's a difficult one, at least concerning cardboard stuff. Can't think of any good cardboard solution that's really helpful. But I think about it.

How much cards have to be handled at the end of a campaign? And not all of them get exhausted, right? Sorry, haven't played the campaign yet.

Great, now I really want to start designing these instead of doing more lame tuckboxes :)

But I really want to finish them first...

Yeah, I know that.

But as you say, you are granted credits and XP after each mission and spend them before the next mission.

Also credits are shared between all the hero while XP are assigned to each hero (we have also PE for the imperials).

Simply, I don't think that credits, xp and pe (granted, spent and unspent) are suitable for a command base.....

As promised, more stuff:

Have to test build now, then do the other big boxes (have to finish before wave 7 arrives next week...)

EDIT:

Including a missing layer mask, as you sure noticed on the left hand of the scum box... Going to change that.

These look fantastic, SirWillibald. Thank you for all your hard work mate.

Cheers!

Here's another preview, I started work on the standard tuckboxes for mini cards:

tuckbo10.jpg

Going to test build it later, the other boxes won't be much of a problem, I'm quite fast by now (thanks to all the practice from my other boxes).

And maybe you can help me:

I'm thinking how to tuck away the vast amount of command cards. There are over 50 only in the base game and about 50 in the first wave of figures. No chance to fit this amount into a single tuckbox.

Am I right that most of the cards aren't faction specific (besides the ones explicitly stating otherwise by symbol or figure name)? So there's no reasonable way of grouping them? Perhaps I'll do a large matchbox...

If anybody has a better idea, let me hear it!

You're correct. Just my thoughts on the Command Cards:

Given that they are too eclectic to separate via names and/or factions I would go for the straightforward and have them labelled as 0, 1, 2 and 3.

I wouldn't worry about the pips or dots following the numbers, as they could just be organized by the person as they see fit. That way you can keep it simple.

Cheers!

Great Idea on the command cards! It makes sense to sort them by point value.

Yes, that's seems reasonable. One thing: I assume it would make no sense to do separate 0, 1, 2, 3 boxes for each expansion? So only one each with room to grow (or with multiple boxes of different thickness, like I did for X-Wing/Armada).

Thanks for the good idea!

And one more, to all of you who already have all wave 1 figures:

I just sorted the commmand cards by value, big pile 0, medium pile 1, and two small piles 2 and 3.

How about wave 1? The overall amount of command cards is nearly the same, are they distributed similar? Then I would just double my pile height to know where to start.

And for those of you who better like to have all cards in one box: I will keep this alternative, as well!

I would think the one of each with room to grow would work just fine. Just having the 0, 1, 2 and 3 alone should work. Thanks again!

The distribution of Command Cards is also just as fun, heh. Here is a detailed breakdown of all the released packs with the Command Cards they each come with:
Wave 1
SWI03 General Weiss = 6 Command Cards
SWI04 Royal Guard Champion = 7 Command Cards
SWI05 IG-88 = 7 Command Cards
SWI06 Han Solo = 6 Command Cards
SWI07 Chewbacca = 6 Command Cards
SWI08 Rebel Troopers = 6 Command Cards
SWI09 Rebel Saboteurs = 6 Command Cards
Wave 1 total = 44 Command Cards
Wave 2
SWI11 Boba Fett = 3 Command Cards
SWI12 R2-D2 & C-3PO = 5 Command Cards
SWI13 Kayn Somos = 3 Command Cards
So far . . . Wave 2 total = 11 Command Cards
Alas, how many 0, 1, 2, and 3's each varies as well.

Not that much command cards in wave 1 as I thought. But I assume Twin Shadows has some, too?

Thanks, Black Man, I think I'll go with 2 or 3 three sizes for starters and wait what FFG comes up with in the future.

Oops, forgot to add the Twin Shadows core as well.

Only 3 Command Cards in that. Wow, I didn't even realize how small that was, heh.

That's it, I'm done building tuckboxes and stuff, can't stand the sight of my scissors, the smell of glue or the noise of my paper trimmer making fold lines any more...

20150818.jpg

At least for today. That's an awful big bunch of various cards for a single game, what lunatic designed this game? Didn't he thought of poor nerds like me who cand stand leaving the cards naked...

The matchbox will be included in my download (for the item cards), as well as a standard tuckbox for the item cards. And single big boxes for the class cards (building those small boxes is a bit annoying, but the result looks fine). As you can see, I split the command cards by cost, a big box to hold about 50 command cards will be included, too.

Have to correct a few minor flaws before making the PDF files.

THANK YOU!!!! Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. I cannot wait to start putting these together.

One question I know you said that sleeved cards will fit in the tuckboxes but the sleeved cards are much thicker than the non-sleeved cards. Will the full deck fit into each of the boxes?
