Advanced Targeting Computer Question

By JimmyKamikaze, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If i have vader with atc on him. Im attacking a ship that has a target lock on it, but its not from Vader, does atc still activate and give him the crit?

Thanks in Advance

No, it says when you have a target lock on a defender. You in X-Wing refers to the particular ship that the upgrade is attached to.

It's got to be your own target lock.

I meant if i have a target lock from like a shuttle, will vaders atc kick in?

No it only works with that ships target lock, vader only gets the crit if it's his TL on the ship he's shooting at.

The shuttle (that does it) can assign him one, and he can use ATC then.

As long as it is the Vader ship that has the blue target lock on it for the ship he is firing at, he can use ATC.

No. ATC says:

When attacking with your primary weapon, if you have a target lock on the defender, you may add 1 [kaboom] result to your roll. If you do, you cannot spend target locks during this attack.

As MikeNYHC said, the convention in X-wing (it's in a sidebar in the core rulebook) is that "you" and "your" always mean the ship that has the ability or is carrying the upgrade. So here, ATC only works if you have a target lock on the defender--meaning if Vader (or whoever) has a lock.

EDIT: Wow, ninjaed twice in four minutes. Probably not a record, but pretty impressive anyway.
