So i know in force and destiny if at character creation u start as a guardian for example you automatically start with Force rating +1. So my question is if u already have a game going from EOTE and AOR and youre getting into the Guardian career would you get a Force rating +1? Im not sure if its really that clear in the rulebook. Please help! Thanks!
FORCE RATING HELP PLEASE.
In F&D it is the careers that give you your base Force Rating of 1 rather than the specs. Only the Force Rating talent within those specs allows you to increase your Force Rating. Just taking the specs does not. Unlike the two unispecs FSEx and FSEm which confer a Force Rating of 1 but only if you do not already have a Force rating.
If you make a new character and begin with any CAREER from the new book, you get a Force Rating of 1. That means your CAREER has to be a Consular, Guardian, Sentinel, Mystic, Warrior, or Seeker.
You can never have more than one CAREER. You're either a Mystic or a Bounty Hunter, never both, ya dig?
So if you've got a CAREER from Site or AoR (Bounty Hunter, Colonist, Explorer, Hired Gun, Smuggler, Technician, Ace, Commander, Diplomatic, Engineer, Soldier, Spy), then all you can do is buy one of the SPECIALIZATIONS.
Those DO NOT give you a Force Rating at all without buying the talents. Still with me?
So the only way to gain a Force Rating at all is to either begin with one of the new CAREERS, buy into Force Sensitive Exile, Force Sensitive Emergent, or buy into one of the new SPECIALIZATIONS, and buy the talents that give you +1 Force Rating.
Ok. Thanks guys for your help!
So does getting into the force-emergent tree does that give u force rating +1?

No. It gives you fr 1 if you don`t have fr from before. You have to take the talent Force Rating to get +1

I started a thread yesterday, about how much xp you would give a new character in an established group, and it somehow posted itself three times in the forum. I don`t think people intentionally post the exact same thread more than once.

Except that last one. Force Rating +1 is a Force Talent itself. To benefit from it, you must already have Force Rating 1 or higher. (FnD, pp. 282)

F&D careers (not specializations) give you FR=1, not FR+1. This is the same with the Force sensitive specializations in EotE and AoR. FR=1, not FR+1. The only way to get FR+1 is to take the Force Rating talent, which requires you to already have a FR of 1 or higher.

Only one problem Here. Since a force rating talent is a force talent it will not work till you have force rating one. Which means you have to buy one of the universal specs Force sensitive emergent or exile or start with one of the Force and Destiny Careers. The force rating talents do not work till you have force rating 1.

You're likely correct. I, genuinely, don't recall it being a Force talent itself, but I'm away from mah books!
