Rogue One cast and crew named

By Dagonet, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I dunno how much was known but starwars.com just released info on Rogue One.

Cast and crew and a light plot outline. I'm mobile so link is difficult, much obliged to whomever posts it.

Please keep plot details under spoilers for those who wish to remain in the dark.

Really wanting to see an on-screen interpretation of Agent Kallus...

Huh, I expected the DS plans to be the finale of Rebels.

How is a guess a spoiler???

By reading my comment someone would know what the article says the plot of rogue one will revolve around.

If someone needs spoiler tag for that, they have problems that go way beyond that... You're likely doing them a favor just being open and out there with it and making them grow up a little bit and not be so sensitive... I'll do it for you...

Rogue One, and I quote: " tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star."

Star Wars Rebels is about the formation of the terrorist organization Rebel Alliance and it's development... Now there are significant, MAJOR character spoilers... But anyone getting triggered by finding out the plot of something needs to grow up...

Yeah, I'm excited about seeing the story of their first victory as mentioned in the opening crawl.

That cast photo looks like a bunch of characters straight out of the Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion books.

If anyone hasn't seen his other film Monsters I highly recommend it.

Donnie Yen!

Mo-cap Alan Tudyk!

I'm much more excited about this now.

I hated Gareth Edwards Godzilla because it was trying so hard to be a character driven war story that it forgot it was actually a kaju movie. But I can really see Edwards working for Rogue One.

Where are the Bothans in that picture? That cast looks as speciesist as the emperor was.

Many of them died to bring us this information. It's basically all they're good for, anyway.

I want to see it, but to me, it looks like Battlestar Galactica or Firefly (although I haven't actually seen either). The point is, it looks like generic sci-fi to me rather than Star Wars. I suppose that's their intention -- to bring it more 'down to earth.'

I LOVED Godzilla. The acting could have used some help, but I liked that it built up to a big battle at the end instead of coming straight out with monsters fighting for 2 hours. That would have been boring.

They stole the plans for the 2nd Death Star, not the first. EDIT: But I see your point. Even if it weren't Bothans, per se, they should have at least a couple non-humans on the team.

Anyone notice the one of the engines in the backround looks like the kind of engine that's on the Raven's Claw?

I'm guessing any aliens on the crew probably aren't more than drawings right now. Motion capture suggests there will be some aliens.

I do laugh at the complaints about lack of monster time in Godzilla. Has no one actually watched or kept track of monster time in other kaiju movies. Yes, the teasing of action is a valid complaint, but as a Godzilla fan, I loved it.

Besides, this was a relatively low budget film, for the amount of CGI used. Sadly, had to cut the monsters. The sequel should have a larger budget, And the last thing I can complain about is Edwards' direction.

I not saying it should've been a two hour monster fight, but come on, there was like 11 minutes of screen time for Godzilla, and you could barley see him in them. The story was dull, and the lead character's actions & decisions were dumb. It could've been so much more interesting if it focused on Bryan Cranston and Ken Watanabe's characters and had them attempting to stop the kaju. Instead we got a lead who, for the majority of the film, was simply reacting to the effects of the kaju. You could swap out Godzilla & his frenemies for almost any other disaster base plot element and have the same movie. I don't see that as doing justice to the source material. Pacific Rim was a better Godzilla movie than Godzilla was, and it was the equivilant of one of those cheap dollar store knockoffs made in mexico with the names misspelled.

Ah. Yousa point is well seen.

Well, at least we'll get Rodan, Mothra, and Gidorah in the next one in 2018.

Hmm. This is off-topic even for the off-topic forums! :P

TBH as much as I liked Edwards' Godzilla, and I'm looking forward to his sequel, the movie I'm really getting excited about is Toho's upcoming Godzilla film directed by Anno Hideaki (Neon Evangelion) with effect by Higuchi Shinji (Attack on Titan)

Also had a better look at the cast pic, is it me or does Donnie Yen look like a blind man?

That last paragraph really made me feel better about this project and get excited about it! That the directors of photography and special effects have such legitimate films under their respective belts makes me hope we'll have some solid SFX rather than all the CGI crap and blue-screen filming of the prequels.

I think you just answered what Tudyk is playing. Poor Wash.

No, no - the motion-capture suit is so he can be a leaf on the wind. It'll be like the feather in Forest Gump .

You should see both, Firefly for the easy chemistry of the cast and the camaraderie, BSG for the tension, the excellent action of the space battles and because it generally is a great show.
