Daredevil and dauntless title on oicunn

By markcsoul, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So this came up in a game last night.

My opponent used daredevil to do a 1 turn and ram me for damage. He then got a stress for it. However he said he could then use the dauntless title to take another action and get a second stress.

Is this true? I'd think the first stress would prevent that.

I DO BELIEVE it's possible to bump someone, use dauntless to do daredevil, and get 2 stress that way. But I'm not so sure about my example.

Yes.

Daredevil was the execution of a maneuver.

Dauntless triggered upon the execution of a maneuver (that results in a collision).

That trigger happens before the stress is applied, leading to a nested trigger scenario.

Theoretically, you could do the following, and it all works:

Green Maneuver that runs into an enemy

Dauntless title triggers

Perform a Daredevil Action

Perform a 1 White Turn that runs into an enemy

Dauntless Title Triggers

Perform a Fleet Officer action

Distribute 2 Focus Tokens among friendly ships (yourself included)

Receive a Stress Token

Receive a Stress Token

Receive a Stress Token

Receive a Stress Token

Check stress step: Performed a Green Maneuver

Remove one Stress Token

Its nutty, and likely a terrible move, but is a good illustration of the concept.

The order of things is very important:

Once you place the stress token from daredevil you can no longer resolve dauntless. You have to resolve the action from dauntless and assign the stress token from dauntless before assigning the stress token from daredevil.

If someone resolves daredevil and assigns the stress token to his ship, he can no longer trigger dauntless. (missed opportunity)

The way the OP describes the scenario the answer is: No, his opponent could not resolve dauntless.
