Slaves

By Petrus81, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

It`s fiction and it`s all about interpretations and perception. Some see troopers as elite super soldiers, other see them as stupid henchmen or faceless blaster fodder. Some might see them as common government workers, fed up with their day job, chatting away the day on guard duty on the Deathstar.

They are what you want them to be in your version of the fictional universe. Everey viewer has their own version and interpretations. Originaly, they are just the SW version of the evil kings evil guards who goes down when you bash their heads together. The fans make them, more or less, what they are. And roleplaying gamers can use them for whatever they want! :)

We have been doing nothing but stealing from the Empire and killing them since the Beginners Game box so the Empire doen't really agree with us to begin with. But then again we are the ones supplying warlords and scum with prime Imperial tech and a low low cost and been doing so for a long time. Making the Empire mad at us is not a consern. When they get us, two stormtrooper sold in to slavery won't even be on the top charges. And since all the GM does is pit us against the Empire and send us on heist runs with their tech as the main goal, Im not that worried about their reaction. I just wanted a price estimation ^^

Not necessarily. The Empire is literally the biggest repository of technology and science during the Original Trilogy. If they can build a Death Star, I have no doubt they can break a person. But that's the thing, it's the Empire. They have scales of efficiency and access to science that a Hutt or some Outer Rim landowner isn't going to have. The amount of energy it would take to break a stormtrooper would make the practice so unprofitable it would be completely pointless. If you want free labor to till your fields or whatever, you're better off grabbing a bunch of colonial families, people who will bend under the threat of harm coming to their loved ones.

Also, stormtroopers aren't broken into their roles, they're conditioned and trained. There's a big difference. Rebels did an arc on this.

About the only thing you could do with a stormtrooper would be to throw him in a gladiatorial arena or a pit with a Rancor for a few seconds of amusement. And that's not a slave, that's just a prisoner.

While I agree that Stormtroopers make terrible slaves, I do feel like I should point out that Hutts do have accesses to some amazing technology. Or more specifically, they have access to Nar Shaddaa, one of the best places for technological innovation in the Galaxy. I myself could very easily see a group of PCs selling some hardened Imperial elite to a crazed doctor or shady corporation in the Red Light District who needs some fresh test subjects for whatever crazy experiments they've got cooking. Heck! They might even pay extra if they can be convinced it'll make for a nice selling point! ("Our retro-virus is so effective at mutating flesh, it turned an Imperial Stormtrooper inside out in just under 5 hours!"
