Epic ships that include regular cards?

By Astrella, in X-Wing

As far as I understand the Rebel Transport includes several pilots and such for the regular X-wing. Do the other Epic Ships include cards for non-epic ships as well?

Yeah, and some pretty important ones, too. The CR90 is the only source for C3PO and R2D2 crew, and the Raider comes with a whole lotta love for the TIE Advance.

Tarn Mision is in the transport.

And the upcoming Gozanti/Assault Carrier is going to have more TIE pilots and crew member upgrades.

Unfortunately, yes...

The huge ships contain the following cards usable in non-epic, standard 100 point, matches:

GR-75 contains:
Pilots for X-Wings (X-Wing model and dial included)
Wes Janson
Jek Porkins
Hobbie Klivian
Tarn Mison
Red Squadron Pilot
Rookie Pilot
Astromechs
R2-D6
R3-A2
R4-D6
R5-P9
Ordnance
Flechette Torpedoes x 3
CR-90 contains:
Crew
C-3PO
Han Solo
Leia Organa
R2-D2
Targeting Coordinator (useless currently on large or small ships as they have no energy capability)
Raider contains:
Pilots for TIE Advanced (TIE Advanced model and dial included)
Juno Eclipse
Zertik Strom
Commander Alozen
Lieutenant Colzet
Storm Squadron Pilot
Tempest Squadron Pilot
Crew
Emperor Palpatine
Modification (TIE Advanced only)
Advanced Targeting Computer x 4
Title (TIE Advanced)
TIE/x1 x 4
Ordnance
Cluster Missiles
Proton Rockets

I have no problem with this business model. I just wanted to post that as I'm tired of seeing all the people complain about it. I wanted to make a post in the other direction.

I have no problem with it either, not only because I would've bought the huge ships anyway and because I think the game really comes to life on an Epic scale. I also think the only people who feel they need those cards are those who feel they can only compete by using those cards.

It's not as if a standard Dash or Decimator lists uses Epic available only cards.

Agreed. I figured out early on, that if one wants to play this game to it's fullest extent (without using proxies), at least one of every expansion will need to be purchased (with some expansions requiring multiple copies to be purchased). While I understand the frustration of having to buy a ship you don't want to get the cards, it's not limited to epic ships. If a person only wants to play one faction, they still have to purchase other factions ships to get the cards they want.

It is what it is. FFG is a business and this model is fine. I greatly prefer it to the grab-bag model which allows you to spend piles of money with no guarantee of what you will get.

At least in the case of the Gozanti, Rebel Transport, and Raider, they also come with a model - not just extra ship cards. I think it will be very rare to see ship cards included in a pack where that ship is not included. The notable exception is the Hound's Tooth.

To clarify a bit for Astrella...

The transport, the raider and (once it is released) the upcoming gozanti transport include PILOT cards that can be used in standard size games.

All the huge ships include UPGRADE cards that can be used in standard games, and some of those are considered very powerful and/or necessary.
