Miniature Market changes shipping and screws over big order customers?

By charlesanakin, in X-Wing

The proposed arrival date can change. Mine started off as saying Monday, but it's shifted to Saturday.

Mine was similar! I ordered Wed afternoon, it shipped Thurs! Expected delivery, NEXT THURSDAY! Today it is sitting about 250 miles from me with expected delivery of Monday!

Normally their free delivery takes three BUSINESS days, Th, Fr, Mo is three business days again, just as I expected originally.

Give it a chance to update!

So there is hope I can get mine tomorrow!!!

I love Miniatures Market, and will continue to buy from them, but yes, the new shipping sucks. I actually live 2.5 hours from their physical store. So, not realizing they had changed shipping to another company, I made an order a few weeks ago. Usually, I would get my items from them in 2 days, because we have a local UPS hub. This time, my order actually went 1100 miles, and took 9 days. Seriously...1100 miles, as the crow flies. It actually went through Missouri (where mm is located) to Kentucky, Indiana, and then into Illinois. I sent MM an email and told them all about it, and got a nice reply, BUT this really isn't their problem. This is really FedEx's stupidity. I don't fault MM at all, as I'm sure they did it to save money. What I will say is this, it makes me more likely to check on Amazon and Ebay before I place an order with them.

I ordered mine on Tue. Aug 11. Got Fed Ex Smart Post and received it Thur. Aug 13. 2 days. That was the fastest I ever got something from MM. I really like them. I have ordered quite a bit from them and I am never disappointed. I know I live relativity close to them (Chicago area), but 2 days? Impressive, Most impressive.

Being in Chicago is probably why. Nice big hub right there.

Really, what should be taken from the disparate experiences in this thread alone is that Fedex Smartpost is totally inconsistent, and a terrible shipping method...

... which is why we get it for free, or for only $5.95 on any order under $100.

It MIGHT get to you in two days... it MIGHT get to you in a week and a half because it got mis-scanned when passing from one carrier to another. Roll the dice, and see!

But seriously, MMs prices and sales are good enough I can stand to wait a little longer.

I don't know what the complaints are about. My order came five days early! Got my Raider today when the shipping info said I'd get it next week! I friggin LOVE MM!!

Yup mine was listed to show Monday but it is due tomorrow now.

I'm in New England, and my MM orders have consistently taken 2-3 days over the past few years. My Raider was no exception: shipped the 11th, arrived today (14th). Thank you, MM and FedEx.

I still don't understand how you're being screwed over. If you're getting everything you ordered, and you're getting it via the method you chose, and the only downside is that it's going to take longer than you supposed it might...then I don't really see the problem. Maybe the title should have been "Miniature Market changes shipping and now stuff takes longer." Or, maybe you just haven't ever actually been screwed over by a company before and, in your innocence, you think this is that. It isn't. Getting screwed over really stings and usually leads to hours spent on customer service phone calls, petitioning your card issuer to force a refund, etc.

What you're experiencing is a different kind of frustration altogether, and it's called "you get what you pay for." It can still be frustrating, for sure, and for a small window of time your emotions may even get the best of you and make it seem like it's the other party's fault, but time heals all wounds and you'll soon come to realize (though not before turning to the internet, unfortunately) that any blame, if it should even be called that, rests solely with the person in search of low prices at the cost of convenience.

Oh and perniciousducks was correct that your invented issue with MM has nothing to do with X-wing or Star Wars, and it's really confusing to me why you would think otherwise. Your post is a complaint about longer-than-anticipated shipping times initiated by a company other than FFG, with the fact that the shipment in question contains a Star Wars licensed product(s) being completely irrelevant; it could easily have contained My Little Ponys or Flames of War miniatures and that wouldn't have made it any more or less appropriate to start a thread about on the FFG X-Wing community page. While I agree that this page should be used to alert the community to actual problems with third-party vendors (not delivering products, missing minis, scams, etc.) it's certainly inappropriate to call out a high-profile online seller whose only fault is allowing customers to voluntarily choose free shipping with the full knowledge that it will take longer than other shipping options they charge for.

Haha, my thoughts exactly, try correcting problems with comcast.

Just check the tracking to see where it is and projected delivery date!

So for all the people telling you to suck it up, yes MM changed their shipping.. they now use the widely crappy service know as smart post, they used to just ground the packages to you when you broke $100 free of charge but it's a way they are now saving money by using smartpost. Honestly I just won't be placing big orders anymore and just pay for ground shipping unless I don't mind the long wait. I used to order mondays and get it by thursday so I could get what I had ordered before I met with my group on saturday. Oh well.. everyones cutting corners these days.

Me gonna select cheap shippins... den when me no get da toys super fast next MF'n days!!!... me gonna come on here and make ass-comments about Miniatures Markets... and dats what me gonna doo... toot-toot!

It's like listening to Jar-Jar talking trash

I believe MM's free shipping is the same as the $5.95 flat rate shipping which they tell you will take a day or 2 longer than Fedex Ground shipping.

I live in Alaska which, last I checked, is still part of the US. Shipping from MM was $48 and $16.75 from CSI for the slowest options, regardless of how big my order was.

Don't look a gift bantha in the mouth, Brobi-Wan Kenobi...

I would advise you grab the tracking number from MM and go to FedEx yourself to look it up. It's not always the same info as it's not as updated as often. Also, I had weird times when viewing through MM.

Still....it will be 5 days with free shipping for me. Bleh. I was really hoping it would've come last night, but no go. It should be here today, though.

Ive purchased some large orders in the past from MM and never had a problem and received my minis within 2-3 days. I preordered the Raider and suddenly my shipping for my $100+ order takes 10 days to ship? Anyone else notice this? I'm likely done ordering from them with this new shipping. Any suggestions for purchasing ships with a couple of day turn around? And yes I'm aware that I can always buy them at my LGS (which I do frequently).

You are like the patrons who come into my library and complain that the free Internet we provide is too slow. If shipping is free you get your stuff when it arrives.

GaH !!!

Mines coming its coming! Its in town on the truck for delivery to my House!!!! 3 days delivery to my house in Montana from Missouri.

AH.....Fappp........fapppp !!!!!

Just because something's free does not mean you can't complain.

Dungeon keepers free and people quite rightly moaned about what EA did to that.

My tracking updated to say today. If you need me I'll be sitting by the door.

Person A: This thing is unacceptable to me. I'm going to complain about it on the internets.

Person B: Your complaint is unacceptable to me. I'm going to complain about your complaining on the internets.

Me: Your complaining about his complaining is unacceptable to me. I'm going to complain about your complaining about his complaining on the internets.

We're all dumb and should just stop complaining.

Right, right... yeah that is how I read stupid peoples... my mind fills in with a stupid voice.

I do not read stupid-peoples postings much, but when I do; they sound kinda like dats.
