The 4 bs + z list at the tournies?

By Flyingbrick, in X-Wing

So i am just wondering how well they did this year at all the regionals and at Gencon. Does anyone have a general idea? Thanks :)

See sticky thread at top of forum.

Then go to Tournament Results.

Go to 2015 Regionals Results.

To answer the question -- BBBBZ has made the elimination cut occasionally. It has not been nearly as prevalent or successful as most people thought it would be at the start of the Regionals season.

Like most lists it has proven to be not quite gold enough to deal with the two ship meta. :\

Thanks and yes it does seem the two ship meta is the thing now. I see what has sort of replaced and evolved from the fat han meta that was popular.

wonder how it will do against 5 Kihraxz!!!

Save us advanced homing missiles you're our only hope.

Swedge i was wondering the same thing actually.

The 4 b 1 z vs 5 kihraxz might be a nice match, but depending on the dice gods.

yeah one more red dice on the Kihraxz group and one more agility and better dial vs tons of shields!! lol

yea looking at most of the pilot's for the Kihraxz the majority of them are nasty, heck even the ps 5 ones aren't to shabby. Not to mention the named pilots.

I don't think the ability to 'deal with the two ship meta' was really a problem for 4BZ. Indeed, that's one of the list types it is VERY strong against.

The problem with 4BZ is that it's sort of a one-trick pony. If you are able to make 3 or 4 3-dice-attacks a turn against it, with arc dodgers that are denying the enemy shots, it crumples very quickly. Not many people run that kind of list, though, because those lists (say, 3x Elite Interceptors) tend to do very poorly against the fat pancake lists.

So it can do very, very well in local events where you are only playing 3 or at most 4 rounds...and can potentially get lucky enough to be paired against lists you are strong against and not paired against lists you are weak against...but you really can't count on that in a larger (regional or national-level) event. And that 4BZ has such a complete and total hard counter means that when you DO (inevitably at an event that large) run into a list that it can't handle...you lose badly.

Fat pancakes, on the other hand, are just more consistently reliable. So, in larger events, will tend to rise to the top in a way that 4BZ won't. They care a lot less about 'good pairings' vs 'bad pairings'.

xanderf i do think you do offer a good point especially with the turreted ships (2 ships or otherwise). They do benefit from a good amount of mobility by way of eu or combined with ptl and boost to get out of the way of too many red dice being thrown at them in a single round.
