What Rebel vehicle would you like to see in IA?

By GrandAdmiralCrunch, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

In the movies all we got to see was the Snowspeeder, but unless they unveil epicly large maps, I don't see them making an appearance. Various games have offered up some designs, (some better than others,) that I think would fit well along side the SC2-M Repulsor Tank.

This one looks like a landspeeder that has been converted to military use. This has precedence not only in the movies, (Gian Speeder, Episode 1,) but also in the real world. Converting civilian vehicles into military platforms was seen recently in the middle-east. It does fit well with the fluff, with the rebels taking what they can get and using it as best they can.

This one cuts a more distinctive and purpose built figure. It looks high speed/low drag. Those v shade rocket pods really make it stand out, and the dual cockpit give it a rebel vibe. It was also a ton of fun to pilot in Battlefront II.

Anyone have any other designs that would make a good fit?

I hope for the classic MLC-3 ...

I am working on a house rules set for army level Imperial Assault on the table top. For the rebels I am planning for an X-Wing, T-47 assault speeder (snowspeeder), the AAC-1 repulsor tank, and the T-4B Heavy Tank. Still working on the rules at the moment.

The scale of the game is all wrong for vehicles. The AT-ST is a stretch already.

because Battlefront II.

I'd love a snowspeeder but won't scale at all sadly.

I would like to see speeder bikes or tauntauns, but other than that it is to much. I mean have you ever tried to move the at st around the map?

Luke's landspeeder. I don't care if its military value is zero, it's iconic. :P

None. They don't need one. As far as I'm concerned, neither do the Imps. Waste of points/threat imo.

Snowspeeder. They would scale just fine. The Wizards of the Coasts ones were rather nice.

Snowspeeder. It should fit on a 2 x 2 'flying stand' to make it scale.

Tauntaun. Honestly anything bigger than a tauntaun/speeder bike would not be appealing to me for this game, but models like a tauntaun rider would be pretty cool. Speeder bikes would be fast so they would need a rule like cannot interact on any turn they move and cannot move that turn if they have interacted.

The Gian speeder would be nice to have.

Beyond Tauntaun and maybe the speeder bike, I can't see many more vehicles being easily doable.

The tank from Return to Hoth seems to be pushing it already, but I'll reserve judgement until we see the deployment card for it...

I have no conception of how they'd make a speeder (of any kind, even the bikes) work in this game, so I just can't bring myself to want them in; it would feel ridiculous.

Quick look at Wookieepedia suggests speeder bikes do up to 500 km/h. So that's 139 m/s. So even if they were only going at a fifth of their top speed, they'd cross any skirmish map in one second, if they could turn tight corners, which they couldn't. Snowspeeder combat speed is 600 km/h, which is even worse.

Now, I know I'm looking for consistency in a realm of imagination, but still.

There are many variants of a Landspeeder with a BFG. Maybe one of those.

And there is the iconic Radar Laser Cannon!

1. TaunTauns are looking likely.

2. T-47 Snowspeeder would be a large mobile figure.

Need to be careful due to smaller maps that vehicles dont ruin to much of it but keep 6 squares should be ok like the ATST

Besides the aforementioned speeder bike, I'd actually like to shake it up a small bit and have a commando-clad Rebel on a Cracian (sp?) Thumper. Much the same as the Tauntaun thing, but not restricted to Hoth. The Thumper actually appeared in a very old illustration, at least as old as the West End Games' RPG version. I think a fast-maneuvering mounted figure would provide a nice angle.

The Empire has all the good stuff. Hail to Empire!
