There were about 8 players total, (slightly low turnout from what we usually get) and surprisingly I wasnt the only x-wing list either!

And the Rebel Transport pack isn't exactly expensive for what you get, so if you're interested in flying X-Wings you've no reason not to pick one up.

the GR-75 isn't really an X-wing fix so much as a vessel through which R3-A2, god of stress, can grace us lowly mortals with his pressence

Has anyone tried an e wing with R7 and fire control system? Corran is probably the best ship to put it on, since he can keep up the target and use it offensively or defensively.

you got some unique pilots that'll joust through their inefficient stats (biggs, tarn, luke) but otherwise there's not much you can do apart from praying for good dice. It's not something complex like being skill-dependent or anything, the ship just has no capabilities beyond jousting (no roll, no boost). It is identical to the Z-95 minus the astromech slot and the wealth of named pilots, some of which are actually useful.

You got Luke with an awesome and easily overlooked ability, the most durable X and most worthy of a shield-regen droid ala r2-d2 or r5-p9

You got Tarn, cheap and also easily overlooked but no one wants to shoot him because of his free TL + r7 (note, if your opponent flubs his roll he's left with a focused + TL Tarn cackling maniacally at his ship, which is part of why no one wants to shoot him )

and you got Biggs, biggs is a troll

I used to think Wes could hack it back during the Dark Ages of Wave 5, but holy **** naked X-wing stats are worse than naked anything else (so really doesn't matter how many tokens you slap off).

Of course, this is all unless the meta goes back to lower health ships, in which case our good friend PS 9 Wedge can shoot them outta the space-sky before they get to shoot him. Offense is the best form of defense, after all.

You're right. I guess I could try to get rid of the stuff I don't want. I just don't like making FFG think I'm ok with having to buy Epic ships to get small/large ship changes...

Yes, just after the E-wing came out I was flying a "hard to kill" squad of Corran, Luke, and Tarn all with R7 droids. It did alright for the meta back then and eventually evolved into a very powerful and fun list that won a 12 person tournament. The idea was that Luke was free to TL since he didn't need focus for defense, Corran got a free TL from FCS, and Tarn uses his ability to TL. It was really cool, but definitely not the best form of a list. Corran becomes so ungodly powerful with R2D2. But before I realized that, my tournament version of the list became two high power rebel "interceptors" by giving Corran VI and FCS (no droid), switching to Wedge with PtL, Engine Upgrade, and R2 astromech, and then eventually switching Tarn to Biggs. It was kind of good when I used it but pretty much useless now. It also lost the R7 flavor which started the whole project.

I actually think the Epic ships are really good value. I see new unopened Transports available on ebay for $45-$50, when you consider it includes an X-Wing with several unique pilots and astromechs, that's not too bad.

Hell, the Gozanti is listed as $70 with two TIEs. I can easily see myself picking up two of those bad boys when they arrive!

Except... He's one of the first to move, has no way to reposition, and shoots after everyone else... But, yeah... Aside from those glaring holes, he is one of the best X-Wing pilots out there... Just let that sink in...

Are you saying Soontir Fel w/PTL, Stealth Device, Autothrusters is not worth 10 points more than Tarn Mison??? Because put 25pt Tarn against 35pt Soontir and Tarn may literally never fire a shot at Soontir before he dies... I'm really not sure I understand the comparison at all...

of course, because you're comparing in a vacuum and not on a squad level where those 10 points could be used to purchase something useful

Wes Jenson with VI and Stress droid then add anything with oppertuinst its great. It how most of my rebel builds work now adays

Okay, I get what you're saying... I have a list I've been wanting to try more with Tarn I call Cerberus here... I've only flown it once against a RAC/Fel list and it came down to Fel and Tarn both had 1 health left and Fel finished him...
