Raider rules still have old green dice range bonus

By PaulTiberius, in X-Wing

I don't have all the FAQs in front of me, so I'm not sure if there's any wiggle room to the language they used in changing Range 4-5 defense bonuses.

But I was surprised to see that the Rules booklet for the Raider still says defenders (vs primary weapons) get 2 additional green dice at Range 4, and 3 at Range 5.

Was the change only intended for use in Epic and Team Epic tournament play?

Along the same lines, the Raider Rules say nothing about starting deployment energy level. And the latest FAQ changed it to say you start at maximum energy. That has a significant impact on the way the campaign missions unfold.

Considering the Raider was stuck at the printer for seven years, and the range 3 change came out after the rulebooks had already been done, I'm not surprised that the change didn't make it in.

I noticed this too. Perhaps they wrote the Raider Rule Book prior to the errata. Even if it was only intended for Epic tournaments, my buddies and I will be using it as a house rule. Having fielded a CR-90 under the original rules, I can safely say that it is a good fix that makes epic ships much more viable.

The Epic rules, and the various flavours thereof, are a little untidy at the moment.

The general Huge ship rules available online don't mention starting energy at all.

In terms of the missions the FAQ still says (at least it did yesterday :) ) that Huge ships start with no energy unless specified by the mission, but full ship energy for tournament play in both the Team and Dogfight formats

Epic tournament Dogfight rules say full energy for ships AND secondary weapons (but not other upgrade cards that can carry energy)

Yesterday afternoon the Epic Team rules said full energy for ships only - by the evening new Team rules were published stating full ship and weapon energy.

I don't expect it to take too long to see a more joined up system of rules and FAQs specifically for Epic

yes, they really need to start with a clean sheet for epic rules, in my opinion. there are 2 many versions of the rules for them to keep it straight. Last I heard, ships started with full energy, but not on the weapons cards, so that is a change I did not know about either, though I think it is a good one.

Please FFG, do a new epic rule book and do it right. epic deserves it. thanks

I'd suggest a dedicated Epic FAQ too

This to me points to rumors I recall about the issue not being printing and shipping but licencor approval delays.
