Honestly, the problem with the Scyk is that it is NOT an interceptor. It does not have the dial or the actions to be a good arc dodger. No green turns and no boost. It is not able to fill the same roll as the A-wing and the TIE Interceptor. The fact that it can equip a cannon doesn't change anything as it is too delicate to last. Now that the TA is updated, I think the Scyk is easily the worst ship in the game.
The problem with the Scyk: it wasn't the V-wing
It's too Starfox.
But Star Fox is great.

I like you.
A scum V-wing with salvaged astro would be fine. You could easily justify it as a jurry rigged hack job.
The true problem with the Scyk: why spend 14 or more points for it when you can spend 12 for a tie fighter or z-95 which gets the job done better?

And the answer is ... [drum roll] ... because it's fun!
In other words, this feels like a casual player's ship instead of a hard-core tournament ship. Maybe the designers will change that. Time will tell.
But I, for one, am a fan of the ship. I like how it maneuvers. It's not nearly as clunky as a Z-95. TIE Fighters are better, I'll concede, but what makes the Scyk fun is how much you can modify it. You can do so many different things with Scyks and that just makes it a very enjoyable ship to experiment with.

The thing just dies faster than I would prefer it to if I'm going to load it up with a 6-7 point missile/torpedo/cannon.
Edited by GroggyGolemThe problem with the Scyk is that it has a title that costs points. If it had been free that ship see a lot more play.
That aside I wouldn't mind seeing the V- Wing for Scum.
I do have to say that I have yet to buy any Scyks, or M-something interceptors, not because they aren't effecient or competative. I haven't bought any because I just don't like he ugly little things. I don't even care what game they are from, if they did come from my beloved TIE Fighter I'm still not sure I would buy them. Although I can see kitbashing one into the WEG IRD fighter.
That being said, I believe the V-wing to be more recognizable, since it was seen in one of the films and featured in a fairly major computer game. And it carries on the design aesthetic from the Delta-7 (and Aurek fighter) to the A-wing. The purple and brown bug has a slight resemblance to a sketch in an RPG sourcebook, and maybe Guri's personal ship Stinger.

It doesn't matter what the ship looks like. If it sucks mechanically it won't see many tables. Create a ship that is great mechanically and it will be everywhere even if it was just a cat turd on a base.
Besides, the looks of models are subjective. For everyone that hates the way the Scyk looks, there is someone that loves it and wishes that it were better so they could play it.
Confirmed: Cat Turd class Star Destroyers are canon
Yeah they were being conservative again that two point title really should of been zero.

Two points is enough to doom a "low cost" ship.
The M3-A looks really sleek to me.
The problem is the title. Calling it "Heavy" without increasing the durability?
It should be 3 points, add 1 hull, and reduce the cost of secondary weapons by 1.
That way the ship is a little more durable, doesn't cost any more than the current Scyk with a cannon, and there is a reason to take the title without taking a cannon.
That brings it in line with the other Scum ships. I think we have a better chance of them changing the title than changing the ship. If FFG wants to save the Scyk, the next Scum and Villainy release would be the way to do it. Throwing in a few different titles for different variants of the Scyk, or maybe some Scyk only mods. A 3 point mod that adds +1 hull but reduces secondary weapon cost by 2 or 3. Something like that.
For 14 points the ship should have had those upgrade slots on its bar to begin with. FFG so far has been unwilling to change the text on cards, outside of the Cloak nerf. They won't even replace the Firespray cards in Most Wanted that have the misprinted lack of auxiliary arc. They just need to admit they goofed and change the title to either be better or be free.

I don't think that is an accurate statement. When FFG issues an errata for a card it uses the new text in future printings. The copies of Expert Handing and Daredevil that I own match the text listed in the FAQ, people I know who bought the first printings of the expansions those cards came with have cards with the original text.

I agree about the hull increase. That's a pretty good idea. But I don't think they should get the discount on secondary weapons.
Also, they couldn't have had the upgrade slots in their upgrade bar without the title because ships are supposed to be modular. They could have a cannon OR missiles OR torpedoes but the ship isn't big enough to have both -- a fact emphasized by its low hull value. I think the way the title works is great except for its cost.
God dam it, no prequel ships. Some people and their bad taste, I swear.

The original title is 2 points. I suggested 3 points with -1 to the cost of a secondary weapon so it wouldn't be a 2 point Hull Upgrade. It works out to the same price overall.

I wasn't a fan of the prequels but they had some cool ships. The ETA-2 (which kind of looks like a backwards Scyk to me) and the ARC-170 were both badass looking.

Vulture droids are nifty. I think the honor goes to the Luchrehulk or Venator though.
