Introducing Rancor Publishing Group (and a FFG giveaway)!

By Jaspor, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey folks!

The people who worked on the Spark of Rebellion fan-made source book are happy to announce the launch of a new website and the reveal of a name for the team: Rancor Publishing Group

The fan response has been overwhelmingly positive, and several more talented and generous community members have volunteered to join the team. We intend to release new content on a regular basis, and already have several projects in the works.

To celebrate the official launch of the website, we have a few announcements:

* RPG is asking for feedback from the community with regards to the Spark of Rebellion book and future content, and we’re giving away prizes to a couple lucky winners who fill out the survey! (The Grand Prize is a copy of the Force and Destiny Beginner Game!)

* The follow-up to Spark of Rebellion will be another Rebels themed product – Presenting a sneak peek of a new beginner’s game entitled Shadow Over Tarkintown.

You can check out the website here and find all the details.

Well done. Already went over to sign up for the forum.

Just want to add how awesome you guys are. Will be checking in regularly for new content!

Nice webpage! Just signed up as a user on your forum myself. Looking forward to wining your random drawing!

Oh, and for you FFG Webmasters, the Rancor Printing Group forum allows for custom avatars! Why no you!?

I dont know about you guys, but I'm not giving up my Angry Penguin.

I am reading through the supplement and I think that the reason that he is "The Inquisitor" is because he represents the office as a nemesis, and it's his title and job description. Not as an indication about whether or not there are others - remember, in the full-hour episode, Vader was referred to as:

"What IS that?!?"

"That's no Inquisitor!"

The angry penguin suits you. Don't give it up.

I've signed up, and am hoping to win the FaD BG.

I skimmed the file, and I'm impressed. I'll give it a more thorough read a bit later (have some concerns with some play balance on the first skim).

I'll try to hop on the forum later; time is really against me lately. . .

I don't think I can see you with any other avatar, Desslock.

There is a guy with the penguin avatar on the X-Wing and Armada forums. He is... High energy. I confused Desslok with him when I first started posting here.

There can only be one.

Thanks for the feedback and support folks! And yes, Desslok, don't ever give up the penguin! ;)

Just wanted to mention the survey contest lasts until September 28th, so there's still plenty of time for people to download Spark of Rebellion, give it a look, answer the survey, and win a free copy of the Force and Destiny Beginner Game. :)

Did I mention you can win a free F&D Beginner Game? ;)

The survey results are coming in slowly but surely, and chances are more than reasonable for such an awesome prize!

Hello!

The Rancor Publishing Group is happy to announce the winners for our first ever contest! The contest involved responding to a survey related to our Spark of Rebellion fan made source book based on the Rebels series. The winners were randomly selected from among all respondents:

Grand Prize Winner: Alex V., who will receive a brand new copy of the official FFG Force & Destiny Beginner Game!

Runner-Up Prize Winner: Gaerithe, who will be given the opportunity to name an NPC in an upcoming publication of ours!

Congrats to the winners, and thanks to all who responded to the survey. The amount of incredibly useful and constructive feedback was amazing, and we've heard you loud and clear. You'll be seeing many of the suggestions and improvements you've all recommended in our future products!

And don't forget to follow us on Twitter @RancorPG

Congrats guys!

There's a few very good reasons.. including things like Intellectual Property and Copyright.. as well as the juvenile behavior I've seen from people on some forums I wouldn't want to see what they would think is 'amusing' to put as an avatar... it is safer for them to simply limit the selections.

And it also helps keep the forums looking neat since people can't upload large sized images (in terms of pixel width and height) for their avatars causing the flow of the posts to get all messed up.

Um, the webmasters can set size limit for avatars, so that is not a reason for not allowing them. WoTC limited their avatar sizes, and they were able to keep a good looking and flowing forum that didn't look all messed up... And as far as copy rights and all that go, I have never seen any forum get into legal trouble over an avatar. Webmasters can delete avatars if they fail to meet certain criteria. I have never seen a reason from FFG why they don't allow custom avatars on their forum, just armchair legal "experts" and armchair tech "experts". Just people guessing at why FFG does this, not real answers.

It may just be easier to not have to devote resources to managing user's avatars. That's resources better spent on other thing.

I'm offering potential reasons. I don't know any better than you WHY FFG does it.. I have some experience in the area so can make an educated guess. If you are expecting FFG will actually give you an answer though, I wouldn't hold my breath.

This is beyond awesome guys. Allows me to join in without TV
