Need help with Wind/Life Raphael deck.

By Church7, in UFS Deck Building

I've been running this deck for about a month and a half now trying to get it smaller and able to be ready to attack faster, but I'm just terrible at taking cards out, because I can find uses for everything but most of them are so situational I don't end up using them. I've come down to the following cards left:

::Raphael::

74 card deck, I need to decrease this, especially a lot of my wind-only cards.

4 Assets:

2 Queen's Guard (Wind/Good/Life)

2 Sacred Temple (W/L)

8 Actions:

3 Shadow Acrobatics (W)

3 One-armed Maneuvers (W/G)

2 Flurry of Thrusts (W/G/L)

16 Attacks:

2 Death Puppet (W/G/L)

4 Fei Long's Forward Kick (W/L)

2 Flying Edge (L)

3 Rising Conquering Crunch (L)

2 Mirror Fan Strikes (W/G)

3 Hurrican Punishment (W)

46 Foundations:

1 Chester's Backing (W)

2 Hwang's Protection (W/G)

1 Greed's Influence (W)

2 The Curse of Immortality (W)

4 Wind Dance (W/G)

2 Speed and Strength (W/L)

4 Shinobi Tradition (L)

2 Infected (W/G/L)

4 Soul of Ling-Sheng Su (W)

4 Lord of the Makai (W)

4 Chinese Boxing (W)

2 Shooting Capoera (W)

3 Bounce Back (L)

3 Schmetterling Fighting.... (W/L)

1 The Dancing Butterfly..... (W/L)

4 Soichi Jinmu (L)

1 Deceptive Look (G/L) ("Hey Church, your deck needs more deceptive look!" "I KNOW, SHUT UP."

2 The Angel of Evening (W)

Each of my attacks work with wind dance, except Death Puppet, but it's just too good of an attack NOT to run, and I can boost it's speed in other ways.

hmm... I think you could probably get away with playing straight Air. Soichi Jinmu and Bounce Back would be prospective cuts anyway, so you pretty much just lose Shinobi Tradition and your 1-of Deceptive Look. The only rub might be replacing the five attacks, but something should be workable. Some sort of Powerful attack (Tsunami Sabre? Knee Gatling? Rekka Shin Ken?) would probably be particularly good for the synergy with Raphael. Well, let me know what you think of the mono-Air prospect before I get too carried away with suggestions :P

i agree with cetonis. why only one chester's?

It used to be solo wind, then I noticed several life cards I wanted to add in, such as the Yuri attack I have that keeps me alive, and me sometimes trying to pull of 2 or 3 8 difficulty attacks in a turn requires a few shinobis or soichi jinmu's. Also only owning 1 Chester's is a good reason to only run one of it.

Well yeah, I mean virtually every deck could make use of some cards from another symbol, it's just a matter of whether or not it's necessary and/or worth the potential issues adding another symbol can create. In this case, you're saying that you need to cut more of the wind-only cards to help the hybrid deck chain better - but, most of those wind-only cards are among the best cards in your deck. RCCrunch certainly has great synergy with Raphael and I'm sure the vitality gain is nice, but if you have to cut the likes of Chinese Boxing or Shooting Capoeiora to be able to play them effectively, then settling for a somewhat weaker attack in that slot and going monosymbol may be the better option.

Of course, if you really really want to go wind/life, we can try to aid you the best we can. It may help if you could perhaps float us a list of cards you have that might be options for the deck. I know you're generally trying to make it smaller, but sometimes a little switching can make a cut easier or something. In any case, having us sit here and name a bunch of cards that you may very well not have (it doesn't appear that you're the type that has 4 copies of every common/uncommon/promo in the format) probably wouldn't be all that helpful -.-'

1 card that have great potential with Raph: Tiger Fury. If you have lot of foundations out, this may kill with one attack
