Beginning my Imperial Fleet

By Viratin, in Star Wars: Armada

I did a very easy and paint job on my capital ships. A nice coating of citadel Drakenshof Nightshade (a dark blue wash), followed by a light dry brushing of some medium grey in order to blend the colors together. I like the steel-blue color it gave my ships. I especially like it because it's quick, easy, and won't be hard to replicate on future ships, such as the ISD. IF I HAD ONE!

they look great

Nice! Did you repaint the engines, or just keep the stock engine paint job?

Heh, to be honest, the undersides and the engine areas haven't been painted yet! lol. Just got the tops done for now, since I had to let the wash dry on each of their tops before moving on to the undersides.

I like the color choice. It makes them feel cold and impersonal just the way Imperials would like them.

Oh... Well, sounds like a great time add some windows too. They did come out great though. Please update te pics as you go.

So, how do you feel about the Gladiator now that you've got your hands on it, mate?

It tidies up pretty well as long as it's the same as the others. The VSD 1 painted up good in particular, looks like the raised edges took the paint pretty well. I'm always a fan of using hues and glazes rather than strictly black, so good choice on the Drakkenhof. So, nicely done. Any plans for identification marks or fleet insignias?

The only suggestion I have is the usual, black sharpie to the edges of the dials and ship cards makes the whole thing look a bit more complete.

Oh ****! This matches my TIE fighters colors. I may have to use your idea to have a uniformed fleet

Good job!

@Vykes

Now that the colors more evenly match up with the VSDs, it looks a bit more like it belongs with them. Even though its shape isn't as similar to theirs, the matching color scheme certainly helps.

My VSDs came out of their boxes looking pretty good already, but the Gladiator's paint job is a bit.. I dunno, not quite as good as the others out of the box. It's a bit more flat and detail-less. Painting all three to match helped a lot with that.

Also: Haven't figured out identifying marks yet. I have a nice medium-light blue that I think would be a perfect off-set to the blue metal color they are right now. Just gotta figure out how I want to use it. Any ideas for that?

Viratin - I was exactly the same... The VSDs were fine, but the Gladiator, with its flatter colour and larger panels, LOOKED like a Plastic Toy...

Once I got the same colour on all of mine ( a nice proper Star Destroyer White), it felt a lot better to me...

That color really looks sick. Excellent.
