4 Advanced Lists

By gamblertuba, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So theorycrafting a 4 Tie Advanced lists to fly after the raider drops into my little hands this week.

Have seen a number of variations on 4 Tempest with Vader

Tempest Squadron Pilot (21) X3
Accuracy Corrector (0)
TIE/x1 (0)
Darth Vader (29)
Predator (3)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
TIE/x1 (0)
Total: 100
Idea here is to evade as often as possible with Vader to make him a less tempting target. Any good options besides predator?
Thoughts on dropping EU for Zyrtec who does not allow enemies at range 1 to use their range bonus.
Maybe even 4 Tempests with TIE Mk2 and prockets...

I was thinking about a similar approach using Soontir. You would keep 3 points for initiative. Can't wait to test Tempests AC.

Tempest with accuracy corrector is a decent ship for its points, but still doesn't deal a ton of damage. I've tried running Soontir alongside them, but he just lacks the punch to really make them shine, imho. They are tough little buggers and Vader might add just enough firepower to make it work. I think in this case, Predator is the best choice for EPT on Vader since he needs to put out reliable damage each turn.

Tie Adv with AC is definitely a thing!

Ive flown your OP a few times and have done decently but feel like the list lacks diversity.

Until wave 7 drops, ive been tinkering around with the advanced and other things. I think tie adv Vader/RAC will be in the new meta once wave 7 drops so im building lists with that in mind as well. Also, Fat Han is and i think will continue to be an annoying part of the meta in my area (thats another topic for another day, but C3Po needs to be nerfed...like seriously!). Subsequently my 4 tie advanced has fallen like chaff to Han. These are lists that are showing promise for me:

Dawg the Bounty Hunter Lots of diversity and higher health. will run until wave 7 drops

TRIPLE PLAY Here Juno gets to decide whether or not to use the pilot ability after everyone has moved. Juno and Rexler deal crits. This list will be altered by giving Rexler twin ion engines.

M&M's A current favorite but will be altered when wave 7 drops

Wave 7 builds:

And the Crits Keep Comin Deci killer

Pick Yer Poison No obvious target. Lots of burst damage

I noticed you liked Lt. Colzet. I can see him fitting into lots of squads as well.

Ya the Lt is cool for a couple of reasons: Because of the low PS, by the time its his(her?) turn to shoot shields have a good chance of being stripped already from the target allowing the pilot ability to be effective right away. Also, he/she probably isnt the biggest threat in your list, so she may get ignored for a bit. if he/she isnt ignored and is targeted right away, all the better because you probably have more points dedicated elsewhere.

for 23 points i think its a great ship to be flying and is almost an auto include for me in imperial builds at this point

Indeed, cheaper than The Doom shuttle and with better dial.

I think vi is a legitimate choice for Vader in the original list to make sure you really stick it to the arc dodgers that the tempests will struggle with.

I know I'm overly fascinated with dial twiddling, and it won't help your damage output any, but Juno w/ SoT and TIE mk2 can help any arc dodging problems. Throw on a tiex1/AC if you'd like.

There's no other manoeuvre dial that can compare. It's pricey at 31 pts, but it's silly-mobile and happens late enough (PS8) in the phase that it can be pretty useful.

TIEAs with mk2s are nice anyway, but Juno with SoT is on a whole other level of dial shenanigans.

Hadn't considered VI on Vader but I think you're right, it's a nice choice. I think in this list I'd want to go Predator because his damage output is necessary to make the list go and there are too many friendlies for Lone Wolf, but generally I think VI has to be a consideration. Maybe that'll change once Wave 7 shows up and the threat of losing elite ships to bombs drives the PS bid down a bit, I dunno.
