H&M Quests... The Campaign!

By Omnislash024, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Well, there is enough H&M Quests now to actually do a full campaign of at least ACT1 And ACTII quests. That is, you can say each hero and the OL get 1XP from each quest when they finish. You could even do it by using the Rumor cards, shuffling the quest Rumors into a stack, drawing one and that would be the next quest. Add in the other rumor cards to spice it up. Winner of campaign is the one who wins the most, or you could perhaps incorporate a small box expansion campaign into it, with the final quest from it being the finale. Well who knows... I'm just chewing off some ideas, but something like this might be a viable alternative to the regular campaigns.

Cool idea, not sure about the balance, but needed to be tested for sure

That's a very intriguing idea. Hmmm...

I like your idea. If I buy the H&M packs one day I'll try it :)

I was thinking of maybe this format:

Shuffle the Rumor Quest Cards. You draw them like you would a Co-OP Exploration Deck each time you advance to the next quest. Then for ACTII, those Advanced Quests are available to choose whenever you want. Not sure about how to do the Intro, Interlude and Finale yet, though I'm thinking you could use the small box quests. First quest is the Intro, Second and Third would actually be combined into a 2 encounter Interlude, and the Finale is the end quest.

I really like the idea of several small unrelated quests in a campaign.

There will be far less gold available for hero's. Do you have ideas on how to address this?

Sure. Gold can be given as a quest reward.

Sure. Gold can be given as a quest reward.

Alternately, you could have the heroes receive gold equal to the the unsearched tokens as a reward for winning, since most of the H&M packs have "OL reward: cool card. Hero reward: OL doesn't get a cool card."

However, this might be too much of a reward, since it will also encourage the heroes to win at all costs and completely ignore search tokens.

Might be a silly idea, but how about using rewards from the Shadow Rune campaign (or another one)?

You draw a card from the deck of rumor quests to play, and the winner of the last quest gets to pick which Shadow rune quest rewards they will be playing for.

For example they draw One Man's Trash, and then select to use the quest rewards from 'A Fat Goblin'. (which are in addition to the card the OL gets if he wins)

That way you have some balanced rewards, as well as the ability to get a hold of relics.

Interesting- one side picks the venue, the other picks the wager? There wkuld have to be rules about picking rewards from the current act and probably not choosing duplicates. For example, if one side gets the dawnblade, the other side maybe shouldnt be able to choose the duskblade next quest- or maybe they should?

Yeah, I did mean that they choose rewards from the current act :)
