X-Wing Simulator

By skitau, in X-Wing

Someone posted in the last few weeks a link to their web based squad practice simulator. Allowed you to build a squad and practice placement and movement in a play area.

I'm sure it was posted in the Squad sub forum but I can't for the life of me find the post. Anyone got the link handy?

I posted it some weeks ago but it's not mine. The creator has improved it a lot recently.

I searched for *github* earlier, but somehow didn't find it. Cheers mate!

Awesome!

This thing is way too fun.

It's a little buggy though. Just had my Decimator throw 12 dice on a Range 1 vs Horn...

Not perfect but definitely cool. I sell RVs and this will get a lot of use in november-january

Hahah yeah. Not sure if it's been fixed but when I played a while back the gunner upgrade let you keep attacking if you missed until you hit. it was funny.

It's a lot of fun though. Definitely a good way to try some silly builds, ships you don't own, etc

This has great potential

Just crashed it by uncloaking Whisper :(

Oh, man. There goes a lot of free time I don't have.

ooh this is nice! The ai leaves much to be desired, but it works and its faster than vassal.

My first game had the computer fly all it's ships off the board by the third round. Still, its an awesome little sim.

I think it's even valuable just as a way to play against yourself. You're missing a key part of the game, naturally -- I try to just make the "best" move turn by turn, pretending I don't know what the other ships have dialed in -- but it's still a solid way to just throw together a new list, see how hard something hits, practice some flying through asteroids, etc, etc.

Are you playing against the AI or against yourself? You can change the opponent to Computer by switch clicking the arrow next the the Human title at the top of the squad list.

This is really cool. Dangerous for my productivity at work, though

Pretty interesting, though buggy as heck right now. Had a game earlier where:

1. AI Roark Garnet flew off the board in the second turn.

2. SPA wasn't working

3. Autothrusters weren't working

4. Couldn't take an action after decloaking.

Still, not bad flying practice.

Yeah it's patchy in places, I find currently its best for practicing simpler ship builds with lower amount of upgrades. Some of the abilities are bugged, eg RAC has one shot a full health B wing, swarm tactics has 'glued' the receiving ships PS for the whole game rather than just the round.

Not to knock it though, it's a great tool. :)
