I would also like to point out that Edge has the best core mechanic, to the point where even in AoR and FaD games I insist everyone have Obligation.
which of the CRB's is your favorite?
1) EotE - The universe is your oyster, if you can protect the pearl from everyone else
2) AoR - While AoR can make a fun military campaign, I prefer the freedom of EotE
3) FnD - I've never been a fan of 'mysticism' or 'magic' in any game I've played, further I have some real issues with both the Jedi and Sith codes
All of them. I have two players with characters from EotE (bounty hunter/gadgeteer and Tech/outlaw tech), two from AoE (ace/pilot and soldier/medic), and one from F&D (guardian/soresu defender).
I am going to have to rank them
1.AoR
2.EoE
3.FnD
TO me i love the Rebellion/Empire conflict a lot from the original trilogy,
EoE seems like a backdrop setting to the the conflict, and FnD I truly love but form a GM side i am worried now all i will see in new players is Super-wanabe-jedi-9000 Ginsu machines!
Edited by Atraangelis1. F&D
2. EotE
3. AoR
Are we ranking these by the Core Rulebook itself (the physical product) or by the take on the game each offers?
Since I seem them like the devs do - one big ol' system, there are no borders and so on, I'll have to completely judge a book by it's cover.
* The lack on red stripe on solo's pants bugs the F out of me, so EotE is out of the running.
* I'm not a fan of the Imperial propaganda plastered all over the cover of F&D, so that one's no good.
* Since red is my favorite color, so AoR it is for me!!!
(Mind you, all my character archetype stuff is in EotE, so that's the one I haul everywhere)
Edited by DesslokIn celebration of Force and Destiny finally being on its way to my home I thought it was fun to see which of the systems is mst popular on these boards and why. Now I know the EotE boards are frequented way more often than the other 2 but that might also have to do with the fact that it has been around the longest.
So, which of the CRB's do you prefer, and why?
I like the power level of EotE and my player have had a good time so far.
My players have no interest in the other sub-settings but I am going to mine them for threats to spice things up.
In many ways I feel like the CRB format is just milking my pocket book and the addition of the Duty and Morality systems makes it harder to integrate but not impossible. I am currently working on a way to hybridise so that I can leave it open for the players to move between sub-settings with ease.
Personally, I don't really see them as separate products, but more in-depth rules for different settings - with the core rules repeated so that people can jump into whichever one grabs them the most.
That being said, EotE was the first, and I've had a ton of fun with that setting. It feels down-to-earth and realistic. If my apartment caught fire in an oddly specific way and I could only save one of the three, it would probably be that one.
