[Scratchbuild] XQ Space Station

By SniperSnake28, in Star Wars: Armada

This is my scratchbuilt XQ Space Station from the X-Wing series of games. It is made completely from plasticard and greebles from other model kits (airplane models). Painting it was very simple; I just based in black, painted over in a light grey, and added dark grey and silver highlights. A black wash that dirtied up the entire build finished it.

Can we get a pic next to a Victory or something for size comparison?

Hmm, not too bad, not bad at all. You might be able to tidy up some of the hangar angles with a bit of surface sanding and hit it with more of the black wash around the prominent features to reintroduce a bit of depth washed out in the drybrush. Starting with a lighter coat and drybrushing something darker over it can work on occasion, especially for certain effects and in conjunction with flat surfaces (it looks fine on the center of the platforms for example) but it feels backwards on anything raised and tends to wash out the definition (like the very inside edge of the platform).

Its good, with a few paint touch ups (and if you have any waterslide number transfers, using large ones on the landing pads might be neat) will make it superb.

Out of curiosity, how large is it across? I've been building something like it (I stopped when I couldn't figure out the upper sections of the substructure) but it was only about 2.5”.

I will now have to give that a go. Thanks for the inspration :)

Here is a picture for comparison next to a Nebulon-B Frigate.

It measures about 3 1/2 inches across.

As soon as "free time" rears its lovely head, I may gave to give this a go.

Nice job!
