Side Arc whale is better! 3 Reds + blue in to 3 Reds + blue + 2 black!
It's actually better to equalize the rolls. So if you have an AF MKIIA, First shoot the side 3red 1 blue, then front/back 2 red 1 blue 2 black. Otherwise you're exposing yourself too much against a single brace.

I am so confused on how you guys did not know advanced gunnery team and Paragon was a thing.

So Chilligan vs. Brian_Black 351 vs. 120. Am I adding this correctly? I destroyed all of his ships, and one of them was an objective ship with double points. He also destroyed my Salvation (objective ship) and an A-wing. This should put it at a 10-0.
We played Advanced Gunnery, I was first player. Total running time was about 5 hours, including setup. We played in two separate days, the final 2 rounds only took 1 hour to resolve. Thanks for the game Brian, sorry we stayed so late on our first part!
I may have won, but he convinced me that Bs are cool.

Looks to be added correctly to me, Chilligan.
Well it is 2 seperate attacks. If I can get my 4 red dice a blue die in one attack and in my second attack get 4 more red die a blue dice and a black die, I think that is better than 2 red and a black.

Yeah, of course. Brainfart. I have played Paragon Advanced Gunnery, except I also had Enhanced Armaments. Say hello to 4 reds + 1 blue and 4 reds 1 blue 2 black!
Only two games left to play after tonight, and Round 1 will come to a close!

Alright, game concluded, the Double Whale outmaneuvered and outgunned the y-wing swarm. At the end of the game, the Valor (unspecial AF2) had driffted too far out of combat, the turn was too wide, to engage anything, and the CR90 with Leia was fighting for her life to keep shields up from the strike craft to modify the Valor's dials.
Second chance, the fat AF2 with all the upgrades, had received a present of Advanced Gunnery teams, and dispite having some obsitcal trouble lining up shots, it had put 1-2 damage cards on both of the corvettes, and killed the AF2 in an epic dual. Only triggered EMC's once, and it didnt really matter at that point. Sensor team made some really crappy 4 dice rolls actually cause some damage, and ramus was less helpful than expected, cause I had stocked up on tokens from the turns spend moving to engage.
In terms of dials, I had lots of unused repair commands, because i thought the Valor was going to be taking the whale of a beating, not the corvette "Pretender". Concentrate fire should of been done more.
In terms of shooting, most attacks happened at long ranges. Only once did one of his corvettes get to attack, and the carrier whale did launch a y-wing swarm twice, once failed to reach "Second Chance", the other decimated the "Pretender". Having the upgrade 'Advanced Projectors' on the CR90 and Mon Mothma rerolling the Y-wings crit-hits saved it from hull damage though.
So, in terms of upgrades I used and didnt use: Ramus was helpful twice, EMC's came into effect once, Advanced projectors saved the CR90, Leia was unused, Vet Captain was unused (due to my maneuvering at the end), and Mon Mothma kinda helped. Most of the anti-ship fire was onesided. Oh, Enhanced Armorments was very, very, very, very nice. Sensor team also was very nice, was used 3 times. Paragon black dice liked to roll hit crits when I had a token for rerolls, and blanks when I didn't. Lots of blanks. Most of damage was caused by 4-5 red dice dealing 2-3 hit-hits and a few crits/accuracies a couple of times. Once I rolled 4 blanks :/
I often buffed the first attack with no paragon effect to trigger defense tokens, and to spread out my dice, so it would be 5 dice both times at range 3.
Upgrades I wish I had:
-Point Defense Reroute. Man oh man. Oh man. Wow. I will totally want to take that card next time.most anti-squadron attacks are in range one anyways, and i would of been able to finish off the y-wings instead of leaving them all at 1-3 health.
-An X-wing/A-wing. Being able to keep up with the cr90, I would of banked a squadron command turn one, then launched them into the fray to die but tie up the ball of death for a turn or two.
Overall good game, and I want to play this with my friends now! Maybe get some teamspeak going.
-Bugs: sometimes I couldn't interact with the table anymore, it seemed to be with the los tool when using it. Also token refresh doesn't seem to work with tokens on the field. We liked to use "physical" tokens instead of the ones on the ship, we had dragged them out next to the ships on the field. Game started around 9, ended 12:30, not bad for the first game in a month on a platform I had no experience with!
EDIT:
I forgot to say, that I didnt know what to do when deploying, and ended up taking 4 turns to undo my mistake. By placing them in a somewhat tight formation and in a line, I was FORCED to activate the CR90 first, then the Valor, then the Second Chance, if I was going to not bump/screw up my position. After turn 4, Valor took too wide of a turn, but allowing Second Chance to turn tighter and move into blue range. Yeah, I know not to deploy like that anymore.

We were both learning Vassal ARmada and it didn't go too bad.
My maneuvering was waay too rigid and didn't react to his course at all. Even worse, I was too eager to get the bombers into the fight meaning I missed having his ships in bomber range after first activation by about 1/2 inch and yet overextended them so they were out of squadron range for the second activation - this set the tone for the rest of the match.

Having voice comms was a huge improvement over my previous experiences playing X-Wing on Vassal using only the text chat.

I am a bit afraid of having disagreements over verbal declarations. You would have to keep a recording of that as well...
edit: also takes out the replay value of the .vlog, since it doesn't contain everything.
Edited by chilliganSo I was looking at the 10-0 results so far:
1: VSD 3GSD
2: 3 VSDII
3: AF 3Neb 2squadron
4: 2AF Neb 1 squadron
Overall pretty diverse, not that there's anything to infer from this! ![]()
Nebs and VSDs are OP! Corvettes are worthless! The sky is literally falling!

We tried to make notes when stuff hapened for the others on Vassal, but really we're trying to play game not create a recorded performance, and frankly if you can't talk with your opponent and agree who is doing what - maybe you shouldn't be playing tabletop games.
Make it an option, not a requirement.
I know if I were playing, I wouldn't be using it. My accent either gets Laughed at, or is considered fairly unintelligable... Its far easier to communicate through Type, or, if I actually AM face to face with people - with gestures to back it up... I'm slowly learning ASL as well.

Rekkon was the Second Player with Minefields.
Came down to a single hull Motti keeping a second Victory alive with two hull remaining. Screed then ran over an asteroid (they do concern him) and hit a mine, dropping his ride to a single hull which the third Victory casually removed.
So close yet so far away...

Please don't turn this into an accusation. I don't have disagreements over games, but I don't exclude this happening, as it also depends greatly on the other person!
I also don't know why you are so aggressive about others seeing your game. It's not meant to be a recorded performance, but some people look at other games quickly to learn more about the game, see how others play etc.

I play my game in a few hours. Are we sticking with 1.99 for the first round or should I update to 2.0?
Playing my game at 830 CST.

@chilligan I'm not sure what you are saying here - but I think you are misinterpreting the tone and intent of my written words (again a failing of text vs speech).
I'm not interested in forcing anybody to use voice comms, I'm just happy that vassal games work better (in my opinion of course) when players can talk. I'm also not interested in typing out every event when I can talk with willing opponents, vassal games take long enough.
Played dabdarklighter, we played Fleet Ambush, Felforlife won 300-0 or 10-0. Felforlife was first player.

We used Skype in our game and I thought it sped things up nicely, and almost felt like we were playing across the table from each other. Declaring activations and reminding each other of steps was very natural....I liked it. We had a nice chat about the game and tactics afterwards too.
We thought about using TS but since it's only 2 people, the direct link is probably easier.
