PM sent to Masseter. It's Screed vs Screed, and there can be only ONE!

A reminder this is a holiday weekend in the US.

I am hopeful that we will continue to routinely exceed the round cutoffs.

The top 8 so far if people wanted to know. Don't take these as the meta right now, cause they have yet to fight each other.

Actually, I will make a new post if people want showing what these 8 players have fought so far, might be a more meaningful list than this.

Felforlife when can you play?? :)

Wow, that was a lot of work and cross referencing! Whew!

Last round, isn't it? There will be no cut?

Correct. Standard Tournament rules with no cut to top whatever. 3 Rounds and done.

so, it looks like BlaiDooberg with Twin Vic's and Demolisher has fought Upgrade Heavy Rebels and won both times

Master with a Vic and 3 Glads has fought a 2 ship carrier force and won, then fought a 4 ship squadron heavy list and won by a lot less

IRekkon with Hitpoint heavy Vickies fought a Upgraded VGG list and won, then fought a Quad Glad list and still won. Interesting. (Oh crap he is my opponent!)

Corellian Corvette (that rugged devil) with a heavily upgraded 3 ship rebel list fought a 3 ship 7 squadron list and won, then fought a 3 ship 4 squadron balanced list and won by a lot less.

JJ AbramsJuggernaut with another rebel upgrade heavy list fought nobody and won, then fought a Rebel carrier list and won

BiggsInRealLife with a balanced rebel list fought a VVG and won, then fought another rebel balanced and won

GreenSquadrontree with a 2 ship reb carrier list fought a rebel balanced and lost, then fought a VG bomber list and won

felforever with quad G's fought rebel balanced and won, then fought the tanky triple vick's and lost

So, it seems Rebel lists with 2 Assault Frigates with a third ship and lots of upgrades (3-2 or more) on each ship beat rebel builds with 3 ships and squadron support

It also seems that any 2 ship carrier list fares poorly except against other 2 ship carrier lists

The Triple Tanky Vickies have actually seemed to fare quite well aginst the Imperial Meta lists! Will be interesting to see how they do against rebels now.

Undecided if Upgrade heavy and balanced rebel lists with 3 ships and either upgrades or fighters are better over twin Vic's and Demolisher lists right now.

So yeah, it seems like rebel lists with 2 Assault Frigates and a third ship with then either lots of upgrades or a smattering of fighters is quite strong.

For the Imperial side, it seems like the more VSD's you have, the better you do, with VVV's and VVG's coming in on top, and the GGGG being shut down.

Anything I missed? Anything I did wrong? Also, a side note, it is a 50-50 split on rebels and imperials for the top 8 spots! In-fact, it still is a 50-50 split if you just look at the top 6.

EDIT: Oh, something I did miss! No fleet with General Dodonna made it to the top 8 on round two, even though 10 of the rebel players chose him! Also, Tarkin did not appear at all. Maybe next wave buddy. Next wave.

Both of my wins were extremely close things, so I would not generalize number of VSDs to overall performance.

Nice write-up Corellian Corvette. I'd be curious to see how the different fleet archetypes fair against one another with another hundred or so games worth of data to crunch.

Something else that I found interesting is that with 2 wins and 0 losses I am actually ranked lower than 3 players who have lost a game each.

Coming from playing systems with scoring systems that simply reward consistent wins, I think in future I will have to factor in just how heavily the margins are weighted.

eg Since two losses and one win at 4-6 4-6 10-0 is actually equal to three wins at 6-4 6-4 6-4, it may be worth building riskier fleets that are more aggressive*.

*thats code for 'demolisher' lol :D

JJs Juggernaut (P1) defeats BiggsIRL (P2)

JJs picked Fleet Ambush

Final score was 98-27, which was very low for how much firepower was being pumped into various Assault Frigates over the course of the game.

Indeed, these points make Armada a different beast from X-Wing, and I think Vassal would allow for some wiggle-room on both.

In future, I for one would like to have another round of regular play for this number of players. Three games in a single day makes sense from a logistical stand-point, however with online games played at one per week, another round would hardly be out of the question. Thanks to the variable scoring system, an extra game would also give every player a better shot at coming out ahead. Similarly, a top 4/top 8 cut might be worth considering.

Anyway, I'm just thinking out loud here - I'm really enjoying this tournament in its current format. :)

FYI sent a PM to Brian_Black on Tuesday about organizing our game

Masseter and I will be playing Monday - to avoid timezone confusion, I'll post here when we're about to start. :)

Truthiness defeats Dab Darklighter 114-55 (7-3 tournament, 59 MoV). Truthiness was first player with precision shots as the objective.

TrikkStar defeats Lyraeus in tiebreaker after a very close match(151-161). TrikkStar was the second player with Contested Outpost as the objective; and, if I am understanding correctly, in cases of a 5-5 tie the second player is considered the "winner".

Full vlog can be found here.

Scoring section of the tournament rules.

• If two players have exactly the same score or both players’ fleets are destroyed at the same time, the second player is the winner, but his or her margin of victory is 0.

I could be wrong then and have been misreading it and had it explained wrong to me. . . hmmmm

I could be wrong then and have been misreading it and had it explained wrong to me. . . hmmmm

i'm thinking that since the tie was in tournament points and not the actual MoV that makes you the technical winner. But I'm not any more sure than you are.
