What a good day!

By Stasy, in Star Wars: Armada

I got my 2nd movement tool (allowing for the speed 2 setup), got my first AF MkII in the mail, and I found those line lasers at Harbor Freight. I even got out of work on time for the first time in a month+!

Now if I had someone other than myself to play a game with, I may drop dead from contentment!

I even got some pins that will hold my table top board together yesterday.

Where are you at? Have you tried a FLGS?

The NE corner of PA (Scranton/Wilkes Barre) is nearly devoid of any gaming stores. Sadly... I live 1.75 mi from one (I know because I run past in from time to time) and they are basically just card games from what I've seen there.

I have to go about 25 miles to get to one here on south florida.

I go 50 miles here in Minnesota. Which is why I can only make tournaments on a Saturday type thing. Those line lasers are really handy though! I newly couldn't find them since they are a power saw attachment.

There used to be that one shop in scranton, but I believe it closed down. Used to do heroclix tournaments and magic. Such a shame because there was a community up there.

Yeah? Where do you live? I live in Blaine, about 10-15 mi. from the FFG GC so that's pretty nice, still can't really make it to anything but the tournaments though.

I'd totally be up for traveling within a 2 hr realm, but that really means it's weekend events only. Hopefully I'll see some action in the Binghamton or Philadelphia areas soon (although they keep jacking the Turnpike rates and Phily may become cost prohibited).

I drive 40 miles here. Every Thursday night. Technically I only drive about 20 miles there because my work is halfway and I leave straight from work every week.

I have plenty of stores around me. This is the only one doing Armada that I have seen. I have considered asking a store closer to me if they wanted to do a Star Wars night and run the various FFG Star Wars games weekly. Sort of a come and play what you want rather than a dedicated night to each game.

I live in Fergus Falls, it's about three hours north of Minneapolis, so it makes it hard to get to FFG's GC, I'll be there for Worlds though!

I haven't tried it yet, but you could give Vassal a try for online games? Not the same as pushing the physical models around, but it sounds like it might be a more practical option!

Check out Bigg's article on how to play via Vassal:

I want to like Vassal, I really do... I may have to break out that guide and try it again.

But honestly, it's like more work/stress than converting my kitchen table to a game table and playing with myself.

So you need to go down there, and drop your fleet on a table. See if anyone has the iron to fly against you.

Stasy there is a Facebook page for x- wing and Armada in the Philly NJ area. Lots of toys and 300+ members events happen almost every weekend. I don't have the name handy but search for it and if you can't find it ill post later.

Yeah, I'm a group member on there. Unfortunately I definitely see more x-wing than Armada post there. Hopefully I'll see more in the upcoming weeks.

I've got to stop socializing after Armada night. The 1hr+ drive home and then turning around to get up for work at 4 AM Friday don't mix well when I am leaving at 10:30 PM.

I sense a business opportunity for you then....

PA Games -- the new local hot spot to buy and play all games, with leagues, tournaments, and dedicated game nights!

there won't be any interest until you go create some. Talk to the store owner about doing some demo games. It's the same where I live.

I barely can afford a house on my own with all the stupid school loans. And lets be honest: my enjoyment of games is pretty limited to the occasional Armada game (used to be X Wing) and whatever card/boardgames my pals come up with.

It's a shame because there were a few other places in the last 15 years or so that were around this area that folder over time.

Yeah, I wouldn't do that drive either. I'll see you at Worlds!
