Seeing as how many Imperial Raiders are now in people's hands...

...can someone please post a pic of one next to the CR90 and Rebel Transport?

I can hardly believe it's been so long since this was announced, with so many pics and previews of it along the way, and STILL NO PICS OF IT NEXT TO THE ONLY OTHER EPIC SHIPS IN THE GAME!??

For reals, people, what's up with that?

I have one but I'm too lazy right now to get up and snapshot it.

Can't wait to gather with friends for an epic battle.

Huh, thanks.

Wow, it's...small looking. Like...tiny. Weird. That Gozer is going to look stupidly massive next to this guy...

Yeah, I agree - looking from 'above' it doesn't look so bad (it's wide enough to be on par with the corvette), but side on, it's so slight...

I love the look overall, but it definitely does not have imposing 'heft'

I have always found the lack of a proper bridge to be odd. I really want to see a cut away of the Raider. Hopefully in an upcoming source book maybe. The internals don't make a great deal of sense. How many levels are there?

It has a proper bridge though, doesn't it?

Yeah, some of the art for it gave it more of a...I dunno, a square/'diamond' appearance when viewed end-on from the rear, for example. Resulting in a ship as tall as it is wide, more or less.

That would give it, visually, the sort of mass range that the Rebel Corvette is working in. As it is, it just seem a bit too...flat.

I liked the in-game pictures a lot. If only the epic format (with huge ships being mandatory) would take off....

It does have a vague vibe of 'designed by an artist to look cool', as 90% of the recent Star Trek stuff has been, as opposed to 'designed by someone with an ounce of engineering background to be practical'.

The Gozanti, for example, looks practical. The scale looks right for humans moving around various parts of it, it has a consistent and visually obvious number of decks, etc.

The Raider...I dunno, seeing it next to the CR90 like that... Definitely looks too short.

My unboxing video is processing right now, and should be up tonight. I line up all 3 and compare the sizes.

UHH... cause our eye-balls-works.

It is the same size as the Corvette.

Dur?

This isn't really the thread to be discussing it, but I was just examining the gozanti in some rebels episodes and was thinking several things look off about it. For one, compared to stormtroopers we see disembarking from it, the wings that the tie fighter docking tubes attach to don't seem thick enough for a person to stand upright in them, which we know they do. There are...protrusions on each side that look like they are supposed to be full decks, even have windows in the front of them, that also don't look big enough for a person, and which seem to attach to the body of the ship halfway between the space needed for the 1st and 2nd decks.

I love the ship, but I am anxious to get a hold of the FFG model to take some measurements on how tall certain structures on it actually are.

Eh...do we know that to be the case?

From the Clone Wars DVDs, the 'concept art' for the actual Gozanti, itself (before the Imperials refit it between the wars) didn't really show those 'wings' to be tall enough for a person to stand in. Crawl through, probably, but not *stand* in...

In a rebels episode the main characters, after docking their stolen ties, climb out of the docking tubes into a full size corridor.

Even if that wasn't the case, does it make sense to have your pilots, in full flight suit, crawl though an access space to get to their fighters when you are trying to scamble them for combat?

Not unlike how odd the Transport looks next to Falcons, Decimators, Shuttles etc...

Hmmm - will have to re-watch that episode.

In any case, "scrambling for combat" isn't really how fighters on a carrier work. I'd imagine a Gozanti equipped for a fighter sweep would probably have 6 fighters associated with it. Generally you'll have a couple fighters on CAP, or...well, whatever the 'space' equivalent of a combat air patrol is...and one or two fighters on 'alert' status. In this case, probably with the pilots sitting in them napping or reading a book or whatever. In case of unexpected combat, it's the 'alert' fighters and CAP fighters that would respond, while you busily spin up your remaining fighters. (Which would involve topping up their energy reserves, loading flight and targeting data into their computers, pilots briefing and being equipped and shuffling off to the fighter, etc) Obviously, which fighters and pilots are on CAP or 'alert' status would be rotating throughout the patrol.

That seems consistent with what I recall of fighter usage with the Gozantis in the show, actually, which is really impressive diligence on the production team if intentional. In any situation where the Ghost unexpectedly arrived in the vicinity of a Gozanti, it only ever seems to drop one TIE Fighter in immediate response.
