Crew for Huge Ship

By FluxCapcitr, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I found some info from a year ago stating that gunner, Luke, and navigator crew cards cannot be used on an huge ship. I just looked at the tournament rules and it states that navigator can't be used, but it says nothing about gunner or Luke. Have the rules changed to now allow gunner and Luke on huge ships?

What about cards such as Fleet Officer which require the ship to take a stress?

Is there a source somewhere that states which crew can and can't be used on Huge ships?

Yes, the restriction on gunner and Luke changed so entire after the original huge ship rules were published.

So far the only restriction is navigator and the modification for how Biggs works around huge ships. Thus far no imperial only crew have been restricted because there was no imperial huge ship. Once the raider officially comes out that might change.

Fleet Officer is likely to be a popular buy on Imperial Huges. It costs an action, sure, but assigning those two extra Focus tokens can be a game-changer, especially in the context of Epic, where ordnance and Rexler both shine against enemy Huge ships, and where an extra Focus token can radically boost the effectiveness of both.

Okay I was going to ask the same thing. Since huge ships can't make use of focus results with focus tokens like every other standard ship they need all the dice modification they can get.

As far as I know action tokens (with exception of the target lock) for standard ships do not apply to huge ships. So if any stress focus or evade tokens get assigned to a huge ship they are immediately discarded. So crew like field officer will be great on a huge ship as they don't suffer the negative effects of the stress token.

Field Officer is a good choice, but it also sits in the same hull zone as the coordinate action.

So while you may place 2 focus tokens on friendlies at range 1-2 of you and discard the stress, you basically are playing more points to augment your coordinate action, reducing a crew slot, and you can't target lock at the same time.

Weapons Engineer! Its a must!
