YV-666 and Kihraxz REPAINTS!

By stuffedskullcat, in X-Wing

Being one of those heartless goons who managed to get a couple ships through a friend at GenCon (oh, the humanity! Call the ACLU!), I've gone and repainted them.

I'm fond of the Kihraxz's lines and can't wait to get ahold of more for repaints and modding the chassis into some of the variant body-types. Went with simple grey and some red markings on the wings with plenty of weathering.

The YV was fun to repaint, with that much large flat surface area on the sides, I'll definitely have to pick up another for some tooth or pin-up nose art. The window design was really difficult for me, I think it's just their non-standard shape that is vexing. I like the green, but not the execution and may revisit them later. I'd also consider modding the bridge windows into a single panel (as shown on the Moralo Eval card art). On the YV I think I'm most pleased with the grey replacement panel on its starboard side, and the colored wiring near its thrusters (reminded me of 3PO's waistline wires).

Nice work! The replacement panel on the 666 is a nice touch.

Sweet!

Yes, very nice.

Cool!

Very nice weathering on the Bossk Bus - how'd you do that? Looks like more than mere dry brushing?

Your YV-666 should come out with this paint scheme! Nice work, sir! :)

Thanks! I've started using Nuln Oil a lot after it was touted and suggested by numerous other painters on these forums. After that, just lighter color highlights on edges.

I've also been using a Black Glaze for smudgy black effects.

Wow, that YV-666 takes my breath away! Well done!

And here's me, not having even bought the things yet... :P

Well done! I love that Kihraxz. Tempted to do a Black Sun model? :)
