I'm not trying to be negative or complainy. I'm genuinely curious if anyone is planning on using Graz the Hunter. What is he good for? I honestly have no idea where he fits or what use he'd be. Personally, I can't see myself flying him--I'd take either of the generics over him in any squadron.

He's rolling 4 green dice (5 at Range 3) against any ship targeting him if he has Stealth device. Not bad for 28 points.

Only while jousting (not against pesky arc dodgers that get behind him). But yeah, I can see that on the initial joust being helpful. But without an EPT, those dice are still green dice...

I get the feeling we'll be seeing Graz about as often as we see Laetin. Defensive abilities < offensive abilities, typically.

A great front line ship for epic play. Put a glitterstim on him and he'll survive that first round or fighting with ease.

Graz the Hunter, Talonbane Cobra and N'dru Suhlak with Lone Wolf and Cluster Missiles.

AKA the Glitterstim Junkies.

He's good if PS6 is worth bidding for. Otherwise he's just a tougher gun than generics (that combos especially nicely with Glitterstim, thanks dotswarlock). As the Special K is offense heavy, a defensive ability isn't bad. It's just not necessarily worth bidding to PS6 for.

No. Is crap.

I can't see myself wanting to stick a stealth device on him but it isn't a horrible idea.

I really want to get a Kihraxz in my hands and start flying it before I make up my mind but Graz is far from having a bad ability. It's going to be useful pretty much every match you fly him in.

I think he should have gotten an EPT slot but he still seems at least decent. Lone Wolf for instance could have made him very interesting.

Cloaking device + Experimental Interface? He can focus+cloak, not sure if it would be worth the stress or not, green moves are kinda meh on Kihraxz.

Graz's problem is that he's a conditional Starviper - 4 hull, 1 shield, 3 attack, sometimes 3 defense - for the same cost as an actual Starviper. He's got +5 PS and better upgrade slots over the Enforcer, but a slightly worse dial, less actions, and no Autothruster access. It's pretty tough to make those pros worth the cons, and that's compared to an already unpopular ship.

If he gave two additional green dice, or turned a blank to an evade, or if he just had an EPT slot, I'd be more interested in making him work.

I'd rather spend the points on a Y-Wing or a HWK.

I haven't tried Graz yet, but I've been flying Talonbane with PTL and EU and he is crazy fun. However, as a cautionary tale against the dangers of drug use: I tried Glitterstim on him for the first time yesterday, and while it was really fun, Cobra in his post-Glitter come-down assigned a turn maneuver despite receiving A Damaged Engine crit and stress the round before. Opponent assigned my dial and he promptly flew into an asteroid and died.

But he died happy.

You've got 11 points left for upgrades of your choice. This is a straight up jousting list, but your biggest guns are protected. Does your opponent go after Talonbane or Graz with 4 AGI at range 3, or do they go after the easier to kill Pirates? This is compounded with Cloaking Device or Glitterstim to make targeting the big guns an even more difficult prospect. You have a solid base of durable firepower in the Zs, and a pair of bigger guns that can spike damage and defense on key rounds with Glitterstim. If you put in a generic Khiraxz, that ship becomes an easy first target.

I'd like to pair Graz and Talonbane. Try to ram Graz down their throat early, keep Talonbane at Range 3 to tempt them into shooting at Graz. Hopefully, the next round of combat, Graz is at that sweet Range 1 zone and blowing things apart.

I am not LONGING to play Graz, but I definitely want to try him out. I love the joust. Also, everyone seems to forget about Bodyguard when mentioning Pilot Skill because it's not just about the bid. If you can Bodyguard him for the joust and put him out front by a ship length...he might absorb a ton of fire while you can set up to return on the joust.

Bodyguard isn't terribly efficient, but I am not sure we have seen it used to good effect yet. However, I am most certain that's why Graz and other Scum pilots would come in at 6+ or in other weird PS levels. It's not only for that 'bid' but to enable things like Bodyguard and whatever is coming in the future.

5 points for 6 PS and a conditional SD that doesn't disappear when hit on a 2 dice ship? Idk. Probably not. If I build a list and have a generic K-Fighter with 5 points to spend, I can think of better options.

However, maybe it's worth noting that there are quite a few decently used PS 5 pilots in the game? Nah, not worth 5 points still, imo.
