Valley of Fire question

By Mattr0polis, in Talisman Rules Questions

Hello,

Another quick question:

Is it that you can't enter the Valley of Fire space without a Talisman? Or is the text at that location referring to the fact you can't enter the Crown of Command space without a Talisman?

I ruled that you can't enter the Valley of Fire space without one on Saturday, & I'm pretty sure this is right going by the 'Crown of Command' entry in the rules on pg 20, but just wanted a clarification to make sure I didn't rip a good friend out of a possible victory. (I stole his Talisman on the Plain of Peril & he wanted a chance to steal it back, & since the rules do say that the Valley of Fire is one of the few Inner Region spaces where you can still battle people, we were a bit confused).

Also, if I am right, can you then be on the Valley of Fire & lose your Talisman (to someone in a fight or to maybe a spell or something) & then still move in to the Crown of Command? And if you can do that, can you also cast the Command Spell even with no Talisman? Sounds like this may be true, though very wierd since the name of the game IS Talisman . gui%C3%B1o.gif

You have to have the talisman to be on the valley of fire space not for the crown space.

You can use the translocate spell (switch places with) someone on the crown if your in the same region.

I guess the talisman is used like a key in the valley of fire to get to the crown space.

Agreed.

It's just wierd that you can play Talisman the board game, and win/end the game without holding a Talisman, lol.

It'd almost be funny just to drop your Talismans once you reach the Valley of Fire, if it wasn't for a few loopholes that someone could do to you like the Translocate spell idea you mentioned. gui%C3%B1o.gif
