Having a third kid

By Crabbok, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Wife just told me she's Pregnant.... again! This'll be #3, and I'm still kinda in shock! Anyhow, we already have 2 boys, and if we have a girl this time we already have the name picked out. But if it's a boy.... well there is some debate. At least for my wife.

I want to name him Lando. But she's not having it. How do I get her to give in? Do I suggest something even farther out there?

Choose: Lando or Lobot!

Wanna bet she'll pick Lando? :)

Whoops spoke to soon! My cunning plan might backfire...

Oh yeah... Congratulations btw!

Tell her Lando is better than Jabba!

And in any case, congrats!

I'll tell you how my wife beat me at this game.

I wanted to call our daughter Jamie, but my wife was partial to Shae. She allowed me to call her Jamie, (but insisted we spell it "Jaime"), and gave her Shae as her middle name. Then proceeded to call her Shae, as though that was her first name. Eventually we called her Shae. She's 12 now, and only a few people actually know that her name is really Jaime.

So, I suggest you acquiesce on the first name, and try and secure Lando as a middle name. Then, once it is all official - you (edit: being) begin operation, "Lando" - the rebranding of your third son.

Seriously, it worked for my wife.

This is a good plan.

I'll consider it Plan B. For plan A, I need to come up with a name that is legitimate enough to be taken seriously, but worse than Lando, and then put my foot down about it, (Sorry but I don't think she'll beleive that I'm serious about Lobot!), so that I can offer her the compromise of Lando instead of the worse name. Plan B will be the middle name.

Congrats on Luke Arnold Nicholas Dennis Oscar Crabbok.

Why stick with just one name? :P .

Congrats on Luke Lando Arnold Nicholas Dennis Oscar Crabbok.

Fixed that for you.

I like the idea to suggest something worse....

Call him Lando or else I'll call him Jar Jar Binks

Billy Dee? :)

Ya congrats man!!! We have 4 kids and they are a joy!!

May the Force be with you!!!

What?? This shouldn't even be a debate. Obviously someone forgot to mention that he blew up the second Death Star.

You're welcome.

Congratulations!

Am I the only one to propose you choose a name you will like both? ;)

Just ask Billy Dee Williams to record a message to your wife requesting that the child be named Lando if it's a boy. No one can resist a request from Billy Dee Williams.

This needs to happen.

Name him IG-88C, obviously. The others are the A and B models, right?

In all seriousness, though, Operation Lando is your best bet. That idea is brilliant

You could, if it's a girl, sneak the name Jolanda in?

Or name your son Orlando.

Firstly, congrats. We just had a 12 weeks scan earlier this week for our first and all is well. Exciting times.

I've taken to calling it Kuato (Total Recall) until we know the gender. When I suggest a name that my wife does not approve of I simply quote "Open your mind" in an annoying whispery voice. I hope that the repetition of hearing a name will allow it to grow on her without giving her time to think how horrible it might be.

My bestie named his daughter Lando until her birth. It really grew on everyone and most of us were disappointed when he had a girl and couldn't use it. I think he might have had a shot otherwise.

If I ever sire offspring get kids, I'm gonna (try to) have them named like this:

Serra If it's a girl. Michra if it's a boy. (And anyone who has played Magic teh gathering might have already figured it out)
